Flex fuel install question

Hey everyone, so the flex fuel install seems relatively easy but I am not very experienced with the fuse box and looking at the manual did not help me too much. This is the first time I've ever popped a fuse box open and I'm just unsure where to place the power for the flex fuel kit. Its supposed to be put on a switched 12v power source in the fuse box. When I looked at the manual everything for power was listed under a fuse rating and I did not understand how to locate a 12v switched power source. Given its my first time ever, I wanted to know if anyone could help me on where to place it. I've added a numbered diagram for your ease of explanation. I did try to look up videos but they usually skip this part and the one guy that did show it said he put it in the wrong spot so I figured I'd come here.

Hm okay. I heard that was "Always on" and not correct but since you're posting here I'm assuming you've had no issues. Thank you

Grab a multimeter, set it to DC voltage in the appropriate range for 12-14 volts (ie if you have 2, 20, 200 pick 20), and then measure each of the contacts against ground with the car off, and on/running.

I might move my #1 connection to the add a fuse I tap I added there you can see in the picture... Thats how I hooked up the FSB and they both need switched power..

I understand how to fuse tap but how is that applicable to the power wire for the flex fuel? Would you have to remove that piece at the end and strip the wire? That’s what I don’t get

That’s a good idea but how would that work? Do you have to remove that piece at the end of the power wire and strip it? Then connect it to the fuse adapter? Like I said I’m not too good with electrical stuff

Yeah I would just cut the red wire and put both the FSB and the ethanol sensor on that red wire going into the fuse box. Right now only the FSB is on that 12v+ switches line. I too hate electrical lol

Just curious how long have you had it on #1? I know others keep it there so it’s probably not the biggest issue but still would like to have it correct just in case. I may do what you said If I can’t find more info on it

Seems good enough for me! Ill probably put it on there and look to strip it or find somewhere else at a later point. Main reason is I only have today to install it and i'm impatient lol

it says "The FSB red power wire will be routed to an inline fuse using a wire nut for attachment, and then the inline fuse routed into an unused spot in the fuse box. Note we suggest using the same 12v signal for the flex fuel sensor." you can sort of see that in the pics they have

I've actually never seen this before. So I just installed today leaving it on 1 for now but I am going to change that most likely next weekend. I did the install with someone and they said it would be easy to just split the wire and use an adapter or something else (which I forgot already). I'll probably do this next weekend with them and I'll update the thread when its done correctly + post a picture

Needs to be on a switched position, e.g. a fuse tap. Leaving the flex fuel on contstant power may prevent you from connecting to the JB4 until power is cycled to it at times.

Here is where I tapped for both my FF kit and WMI. I used an add a fuse adapter I got off amazon.
