I have read that others have the same problem, but I decided to start a new thread. I am NOT a car person, and don't understand what the manual is telling me--either I'm not doing the steps correctly, or something just isn't working correctly. On page 5-47 of the manual it says that a warning message will appear if I drive off with the EPB applied. At least that's not happening, and everything seems fine--other than the red warning lights.

Am I correct in assuming pulling UP on the EPB switch turns the brake ON, while depressing it should turn it OFF?

Yes, up ON, down OFF. If the PB icon doesn't turn off something is hopefully wrong with the icon display and not the PB itself. I've had to hold my PB lever down to make the icon go out, not just push down and let go. But only a couple of times and the last time was years ago, so, I don't recall that well why I had to do that: probably my PB icon was still lit and I noticed and manually disengaged it, successfully according to the light. All other times, of course, the light goes out by itself when I put the shifter into "R" or "D".

When I put my car into drive the electronic parking brake automatically disengages.

I'm not entirely sure with this car but I know this to be the case with my previous car(s). If the brake fluid is low, the brake (e-brake, parking brake) light on the dash will stay on. Usually if brake fluid is it also means either your pads are worn down pretty low all around or you have a leak somewhere. The manual doesn't really state anything to this effect though. All it says is that if the light stays illuminated even when the e-brake is released that you should get the vehicle checked out immediately.

What is the problem you are experiencing?

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Yesterday morning the light was still on. I drove 25 miles to work without incident. 2 hours later I got in the car and started it up--red light comes on. I called the Kia service dept and set up an appointment. Literally less than 1 minute later, the light went off and hasn't come back on.

Perhaps the car feared the incompetent hands that would diagnosing it.
