End of lease purchase price

^^So the bank/dealer still makes the same $$$, just tacked on up front (monthly payments) or in the end (residual)? I suppose in normal times he'd lose out, but now he's pocketing over $9K.

Of course, getting shafted is unavoidable. He'll get that when he goes for the replacement vehicle.
 
My friend has run into another problem. New car pickings are slim. Told him to look at other brands. For the mileage he drives (8K over the last 3 years), it makes little sense to piss away a $700 monthly payment on something fancy that will just sit.
