I still don't have actual possession of my GT2 yet, but I'll be getting it wrapped the last week of August. Today I was asking the wrapper if he would remove the emblems and just leave them off. He looked at a photo of the car and said he thought the emblems would all be attached with tape only-- except for the emblem in the middle of the trunk and middle of hood. He said he was pretty sure those would be 'set in' to the metal and there would be an oval depression showing if he didn't put them back on.

Is he correct or not?

They are all attached with foam tape. Some are easier to remove than others but he will put in some work removing them.

To further... No indents where they sit though. You can leave them off if wanted. Just fill the guide holes.

The front and rear Kia emblems have pins which lock into holes in the fender and hatch.

yes, I've read the posts on using fishing line instead of heat. I'll make sure to let them know that when the time comes.

I did use a blow dryer but its no joke. I had to do it very slow. After that I picked off all the extra double sided tape.

Make sure you take your time. The line will do the job.

Do not use a heat gun or hair dryer, the tip is leave the car in the sun on a warm/hot day for a couple of hours, then use the fishing line as stated above & taking you time you should get a good clean result, any residue tape should just roll off using your thumb.

He is NOT correct. There are centering holes for both the front and back for the Kia emblems. They are only double back adhesive held on. They pry off fairly easily and except for the centering holes there are no indentations where the OEM emblems mount. Remove them and fill the holes with a good quality industrial silicone so that the wrap sits flat and do not show the holes. I removed both of my emblems and replaced them with the Capital E that states Stinger on the lower diameter of the emblem.20180623_215539.webp 20180623_215539.webp

I also have 8 small screw holes from the license plate that may need filling (depending on my license plate plans).

I talked to the guys that will be doing the wrapping about filling holes, and they said they don't do any 'body work'.

Is this industrial silicone something that anyone could put in, or would it have to be done by a body shop? Is it hard to make smooth?

I am completely ignorant of this subject -- could you recommend a specific silicone?

I bought some for the local hardware store (Lowe’s/Homedepo). I used a puddy knife. Very easy..

Good stuff its soft dull I know exactly what your talking about. I own a few.

David , you need to spend some time to remove the oval ghosting from the Kia badges , mild rubbing compound and some elbow grease , looks good !

The ghosting you speak of is actually Stone Gaurd on the front of the car. I had that work done prior to changing the emblems. Accordingly, the oval shape of the original Emblem is now visible. What I should say is "WAS" visible. I had the stone gaurd redone last week. Good eye though and nice catch.
