I've been using the JB4 for more than 2 years and all is fine. After reading several reviews and seeing the 1/4 numbers etc, I am convinced it is worthwhile to upgrade to a ECU/TCU combo.

I know Lozic & Lap3 are the standard options at the moment, but during my search I saw the EK1Pro option from Sixth Element. I've known Sixth Element for a while, and I know they make quality stuff for the smaller Hyundai/Kia cars, so naturally I am interested to learn more about the tune option they have available. I searched the forum but could only find one member @AWDGT2 is using the ECU and he is in the 1/4 mile top ten which is impressive.

What I liked about the EK1Pro is that it gives you the ability to do flash tunes to the ECU provided you have an unlocked ECU, also the price for the tune with the monitor is less than 2K which is quite cheaper than the Lap3. The monitor looks high quality and does data logging etc.

Was wondering if anybody has any experience with the EK1Pro so we can start a discussion about it, looks like a serious contender to consider as a tune option.

I love Sxth, and the EK1 is awesome. You can flash your TCU with it also. Nate the owner is top notch with service and support.
My short history... I believe I was his first Stinger. The day after I swapped it in, I broke Kato's record (at that time). From there I've bounced between #1 and #5. Currently sitting #3 with a 10.96, only a few hundredths for top spot again. The only reason I haven't gone back and bettered my time, is I promised the GF if I broke into 10's we would enjoy the car this summer as a daily. Come fall its game on again. I think all the tunes out there are good in their own aspects and I've grown out of knocking any other company. With that said, if you're on the edge of deciding, you would never regret going Sxth. My car is as solid as it was before the ECU, I'm currently running E60 and higher (custom tune from Nate), I can swap back and forth between WMI and CPI effortlessly, and whatever concerns I've ever had with the car Nate was able to address it promptly.
Also, Nate has some big surprises coming, to include his own hybrid turbo kit. Between that, and Terry from BMS signing on with Sxth as a tuner, there's no better one stop shop. Think about this.... Terry can now build ECU tunes and collaborate with Sxth. From there that tune is emailed to you and within 5 min. you flash your ECU with the EK1.

Pretty dope stuff here.

So many options for us as a Stinger group theses days. Great to have so many quality options and commitment levels.

Thanks for pitching in, I am really looking forward to the hybrid turbo kit.

Ok back to the subject. So how does it work exactly, Sixth will send you an unlocked ECU/TCU and the EK1Pro loaded with a flash tune?

Also,
How does the EK1Pro technically do the flash, through the OBD2?
Is the power source for the EK1Pro the OBD2 or it needs a direct source by tapping a fuse?
How is the quality of the monitor and how does it look installed on the Stinger?
How much are you relying on JB4 Map 6 fine tuning?

Please share as much data as possible, pics/videos if any. Literally, your possibly the only Stinger on the forum with this so we are relying on you :)

You either send your ECU for him to unlock, or buy another ECU from him that is already unlocked.

Technically, all tunes available today (e.g Lozic, Lap3, Tork) first unlock the ECU and then tune it.

Got it, thank you

The EK1 will only work once an initial Sxth tune is on it. So you have two options. Send yours in for an initial Flash/Tune (Stage1, Stage2, Stage3), or purchase the spare ECU with the stage you want on it from the website.
Side note... All tuners encrypt their ECU, Sxth, Lap3, Lozic, Tork, which means if you have one flashed, then it can't be used for anything other than that specific tuner. Unless you can convince that company to unencrypt the ECU and put a basic load back on it, it's locked.

Do you want to post some videos of the device itself and interacting with it? im sure the people are curious.

So, you would need to buy a tune before using this? If so, that really adds to the cost.

Pressertech ecu: sad noises. Lol they are probably not even active anymore. But their tune is pretty mild by comparison to everyone else.

Yes but it does more than just flash. It has a large screen for gauges, customizable, better than JB, it logs, it also records, rolling speeds, 0-60, 1/4 mile ect so it's a combo of a JB4 and Dragy except it doesn't "Tune" per se like the JB with specific maps

I sure can, I can go through the flash process and just reflash the same one I have in now.

We will be using it to provide flash changes for JB4 customers who don't mind flashing and are looking to max out power and track times.

They tell me they will have remote unlocking available for it eliminating the need to swap ECUs.

To do accurate performance metrics you'd need high speed GPS. Not familiar enough with the EKP device yet to know if it has that. JB4 can do metrics also off the OBDII data but it's just not that accurate relative to high speed GPS like dragy.

If that happens, then I am in.

Any ETA for this?

That would be honestly really cool! I'm not looking to change away from Lozic at all, but I am very excited about more innovations for our cars and it seems like a really cool device.

So would this allow for a map suitable for flex-fuel (any combo of 91 / E85 up to full E85), when combined with CPI?
