Bingo. And do try to not go off all emo; I do not have a problem with my door locks; there is simply a protocol in place that I forget and haven't plumbed the depths of, because, as others have said, I do not use the fob to lock/unlock my doors. I walk up to the car and push the driver's side black button; voila! the door clicks unlocked; and if I push it again, the other doors unlock. That's it, 99.99% of the time (slight exaggeration to show the point). On those odd occasions when I've already started the car, and find myself back around on the passenger side, the black button on the passenger side is incommunicado and the fob won't work either. I don't see the issue here. You've apparently got something else going on. I do not.but I still do not understand
I did not use the fob either please read my previous posts especially the first one and read the original start of the thread. if you can live with a faulty car then fine. i could not and had it repaired. I was trying to help but now I am bored with it. Will not be responding to any more of this.Bingo. Mine has the smart liftgate and welcome mirrors/lights.I did not use the fob either please read my previous posts especially the first one and read the original start of the thread. if you can live with a faulty car then fine. i could not and had it repaired. I have found the same problem when trying to unlock or lock the car with the button on the drivers door. No response for a couple of attempts but eventually it works. I write it off to the interference from the iPhone in my pocket. No biggie.Mine has the smart liftgate and welcome mirrors/lights.
The problem that I just started encountering is that the car, after being parked for a few hours or overnight, won't realise that the keyfob is right next to it. So, the smart liftgate won't work. The door buttons are unresponsive. The mirrors won't unfold.
Unlocking with the keyfob button normally works. And then everything will be fine for the next couple of hours or so.
And repeat.
Had not touched the settings.
Time to call up the dealership, I suppose?
Hi, Do you have any details or someone at Kia or dealership I can contact as my local dealer knows nothing about this and cannot find any information about this fix. My issue is identical and is clearly the car thinking the key is inside when its outside.Well finally Kia have come up with a fix. It turns out that the door locking module signal strength is too high and detects a key as being in the car when it is actually further away. i.e. outside the car. The fix sounds like a bodge up but it does work, they wrap the module and it's antenna with a single layer of silver foil.
Sounds ludicrous I know but it works and has been rolled out across the UK dealer network with 100% success. The key is still detected but only when it should be so all functions are normal. Happy days.
