Dog in the back?

if you have a toy breed this is a good front seat option. The dogs booster chair is secured by the seat belt and there is a tethering strap for their collar.

This picture is of a 22 inch seat from my other car. This size is too wide for the Stinger but the 15 inch version would fit OK and be suitable for small lap dogs up to around 7kg.

Actually one of the reasons I liked the stinger is that my dog can jump up in the back. She's kind of a small yellow lab and doesn't take up a whole lot of space. With the package tray out she has plenty of headroom. Of course I will have to deal with nose prints all over my back glass...

I've seen quite a few tests and the outcome is always the same: The only viable (medium and up sized) dog transport option is the solid metal case, tied down to the trunks floor. An only solid, good variants of it. The crash tests have shown, that no "belt/leash" thingy or anything made out of anything else than solid metal bars (even the cheaper metal options) will get destroyed, at least the backside ripping up from the dogs impact, with a high risk to both dog and passenger in the car. If you love your dog and yourself or your passengers, you should shell out the money for such a case .. it's the only crash "safe" option.

Seeing the stingers low roof, I don't think that is impossible, but you won't probably find many standard, common cases and maybe require a custommade one.

I chose this car because of both sportiness and utility. Dog hair is part of my life, although I will be more cautious about muddy paws than I was in my old car. The dogs will have to learn to live with reduced headroom in this fastback, but they shouldn't be standing anyway.

I drove the Iron Mountain highway today with my 130 lb Malamute. The stupid liner I have is slick, so he slid side to side during the whole accent ... He's probably almost 3 ft at the shoulder in height and he'd couldn't stand comfortably, but he could lay across the entire back comfortably and still enjoyed his ride. His normal ride is in a Land Rover, so he has a bit more space there to stand, but we make him lay down when driving, so he was G2G.

I am looking for a good cargo liner for dogs though ... This one sucked.

I have a hammock / taco thing I used in my old car, I was planning on putting the dog in the rear for my road trip next week. I would like a good cargo cover for the back though.

@CDv6 one of your dogs looks a lot like mine.

My dog on road trips he goes in the trunk. I remove the felt platorm cover its just 2 strings and put those dog backseat liners it's totally fine if you dont have a tall dog. I will get my trunk glass tinted for her comfort. Only downside my English bulldog in back means 50% trunk space lost. If dog < 50lbs and is well trained enough to sit and stay as trunk closes ur fine.

My dog is about 55-60lbs and fits perfect back there. He's got globs of trunk time. He's only 16" tall though.

Aaaaw that looks like my dog, except mine is cross beagle. I like this option but as you say the 15 inch would be a better fit and I think that may be a little small for my pooch. I might go into pet stock and have a look. At the moment mine sits on two memory foam pillows with a pet seat cover that fits quite poorly over the top. Bought that from Petstock too and was a waste of 80 bucks.

Don’t know about the car.... how about a plane? Lol
Looks like a great companion - and I see he brought his own harness ... :)

That's a big canopy - what's the plane? Looking into building an RV-14A when I start to cut back on my current work obligations. Should be a nice performance upgrade, have been used to flying a Piper Arrow 200R with a CS prop. Lucky to get a 1000 ft/min climb at our elevation in the summer.
