Does anyone know what materials the Kia Stinger GT 2022 is made of? Specifically the exterior door panels and undercarriage?

Are the door panels made of Aluminum or plastic, and will they rust?

I've been trying to find a source for this, but I can't seem to find it, thanks.

The doors are steel. Just like the whole body. Bumpers are plastic. Some suspension components are aluminum.

and the rear hatch cover - appears metal - but is plastic.

The hatch itself, surrounding the glass, is steel. The "facia" above and behind the license plate is the plastic part, including the taillight assemblies. The actual bumpers themselves are steel. But as with all modern automobiles the painted covers are plastic. They are black. There is more steel about the Stinger than many sedans. Look at the "bones".

I think the actual rear crash bar is some kind of plastic as well. At least it looks like it from the pictures. shopping.webp

The crash bar on my 22 is some kind of composite material at least in the rear and the rear hatch cover is definitely plastic blu that one apart in a accident

Steel

No

Yes, if not protected by paint.

Curious as to why? a school project?
I got a small scratch, not sure if it went through the paint or not, I cleaned it and covered it with wax. But I live in Minnesota

Needs paint to protect the steel for a Minnesota winter.

The wax you applied will be very temporary.

Yeah, I have a touch up pen. I'll need to look and see if it actually went through the paint or not. I'm pretty sure it only went through the clear coat.

My Stinger is Ceramic Silver so it's a little harder to tell if it went to the steel itself.

Get that taken care of asap. We've been lucky this winter so far, gonna be in the 40s for the rest of the week but anything will rust when unprotected. On top of that if you live in MN, you know as well as I that if we get some snow they'll be out spreading salt and chemicals all over the place.

Are you in Minnesota or New Zealand?

Anyway as you already own the vehicle run a fridge magnet around it. Where it sticks it is steel.

As for clear coat. If you take that to a decent panel shop they can buff that out to a negligible line.

Thought he said he lives here, in Minnesota.

Are the steel panels galvanized; both sides or one side?

He did. Two posts up from the post he replied to. But he does have a New Zealand flag next to his name.

If you trust the internet..... apparently our cars are partial galvanized - meaning:

Zincrometal is the process used.

Hmmmmu….I think I’ll be booking my car in for another Krown (oil spray) application in the New Year (already done once).

When I bought my car new 3 years ago the dealer applied some kinda undercoating to it. It had a weird oatmeal type look to it. I remember it was oozing out of certain spots in the bottom of the doors and underneath. Not sure exactly what they used but I wonder how long that stuff lasts? Just like the OP, I too live in MN.
