Does 5mm wheel spacer require extended studs

With the 5mm spacer installed just a bit of hub protruding. Take the center cap off put wheel on and see that hub does not stoke enough to help center rim. Personally did not think this looked mechanically correct. If the 5mm spaced had a hub lip do not see how it would work with our hub . I am talking about a STOCK wheel. Although I did like the look of a 5mm spacer
