About 800 miles on fresh oil i smell some fuel on the dipstick, is this normal for us? Anyone else want to smell the dipstick LOL

NO, a strong smell of fuel on dipstick indicates a stuck/leaking fuel nozzle/injector... I would have Kia take a sniff... ;) If they say it is nothing - i would still have an independent oil analysis done. ;)

Responses seem diverse. Many boosted owners on different brands report the issue. Seems GDI boosted engines have some dilution on cold start and high boost....I know for a fact my car runs pig rich stock as indicated by soot and black smoke under throttle it always has. I’m sure running map 2 with 50 plus pulls has resulted in blow by as well. I’m not sure there’s an issue but asking the dealer is a huge waste of time imo. She’s fast though....runs solid a d there was no fuel apparent in my last oil change

You answered it. A super rich warm up when cold to warm up the cat and gdi just has fuel dilution in general. An oil analysis would reveal what's going on, but it should not smell like gas. I discovered a blown coil pack that resulted in gas smell in my oil in as little as 1000 miles. I know Kia says 6k oil changes but if you are tuned 3k is all I would and am doing personally

I had a loose spark plug... tightened up amd the rough idle and rich start are better. I installed the plugs last year, obviously needed to torque them down a little bit more.

An oil analysis would easily answer the question.

Is yours 2.0 or 3.3? I've read 2.0 has a common problem with hpfp.

Was a loose spark plug causing flameout on the spark and rough cold idle. Car was running rich. Tighten the plug corrected the issue. 3.3, plug loosened over period of a year. I torqued to 20ft lbs at the time but it is what it is.
