Did I overpay for installation? What did your mods cost?

I was quoted around 15 hours to install BMS OCC, HKS Spark Plugs Air Intakes, Velossa big mouths, BMS intercooler, Vanity sheilds and Jun BL downpipes. After talking to the tech, he made it seem like the estimate was just being cautious because they didn't know how long it would take to get the front end off and what not and he watched a video and it didn't take long. I was expecting 10 hours. They got it done quickly and said they would honor there 15 hours cause it took a little longer. $150/hr labor rate came out to total around $2400! It knew I probably overpaid and it is my fault for being a bit impatient and not searching around more. For those mechanically lacking, how much did you pay?

All of that stuff you can do with cheap harbor freight tools....

You paid double price.

Pretty much. The most challenging part of that list would be reaching the turbo bolts on the DP. But even that can be handled with a cheap impact wrench and socket extension.

I’m far from mechanically hands on right in the same boat as you but I would have definitely shopped around a little more. That’s crazy. Lesson learned I hope !

Yea for sure! One shop quoted me 1600 but couldn't get me in for a month. I thought this ship was just being conservative on the estimate as far as time goes. Lesson learned ha

Insane.

All that shouldn't even take 6-7 hours tops.

OCC is literally - 10 mins
Vanity Shields - 10-15 mins
Spark plugs without removing manifold - 45 mins to an hour tops.
Snorkels and intakes - 30-40mins each. So roughly maybe 2 hours tops for both.
Intercooler and Jun B downpipes would take majority which would be maybe - 3 hours.

You could have tackled the occ and vanity on your own quite easily shaving off time.

I wish you got opinions first but we all live and learn op.

Are these "vanity shields"??? I've never heard of them before. 3 push rivets per side? That mechanic should be ashamed himself! Dr.P, that guy took you for a ride!

Yep lol

3 push rivets on both sides I think cant member now and that should be it.

Actually on passenger side, may need to take a bolt out which was PITA to me and putting it back on with the shield.

Live and learn for sure. Ultimately, it must have been worth it, the OP did pay asking price.

I belive "book time" to replace spark plugs is 6 hours. So op got charged 900 just for that.

You got bent over, lord. The plugs can be a bit of a hassle if you are that mechanically awkward and I can see the argument paying to have those installed, but the rest of that is, quite literally, unbolting things and bolting new things in its place. If you can read, can watch a video or three, and understand the basic operation of a wrench and screwdriver, all of the rest of that is perfectly doable.

Ya hate to see it

Hi y’all I was just curious, how much do you guys think shop hours-wise to have my stock down pipes removed and aftermarket’s put on? The shop I asked said they’d do it just find out how much the hours for labor is and they would do it for that.

If all the fasteners come apart nicely then 2 hours.
If one or more stud breaks, then, well, 8 to 40 hours.

For the secondaries I dont see it being more than 2-3 hours. Primaries, on the other hand..... if any of the studs break, which they like to do, it will be engine out job. A lot of money. So I wouldn't even risk installing it for very questionable gains.
