OK, now for the ugly, the rear spoiler lip of the GT2 Hatchback paint job has a problem. The paint under the gel coat looks like paint looks when you apply heat and it develops fine wrinkles.Ugh, not visible from 10 feet away but probably will result in paint flaking off in future. The window tint film on driver's side and back back window have bubbles under the film. Maybe a few other bubbles too when I have time to look around.

The good part is that the paint problem only is one place and can be re done, I guess the window film can be removed and re-applied. Called customer support and have appointment at dealership for wire harness recall and to evaluate defects.

Hope they can work with me to make it like new, or in this case, better than new. :)

Also what is it with the paint, no matter how you clean it, the surface still feels gritty :(

Love the performance so far ~700 miles

There is no OEM tint. Probably the dealer added (and is either so new it has bubbles... which will go away... or they did a crap job.... which won’t).

As far as the paint, you’d be surprised how much defect can be corrected with some clear safe rubbing compound and random orbital/polish. That I would make them fix.

Good luck!!

OK, can re-do window film down the road if needed -- thanks. It's a crap job, completely dry, no chance of working out.

The dealer should get this replaced for you. Poor application by their contractor. It should also come with some type of guarantee.

I have an '18 Micro Blue GT2 as well. I haven't seen the glass tint issue. As far as I know that would be a dealer add on-- not Kia factory. With the paint, I have used Maguirer's products to get great success. If you wash/dry your car and put your hand in a small plastic bag and run over the paint surface and feel small bumps you have road, brake dust and contamination and oil on the paint surface. You can even hear it. Then it may need to be clay barred. There's several clay bar products available at local Walmart's or Auto Stores. Works like magic and I never did this before owning this car. I happen to like the Maguirer's Ultimate line by using the wash, clay bar, sealant and then wax. I follow it up with their Ultimate fast Finish-- an aerosol sprayed onto a rag they supply. Paint shines like glass. It consistently gets heads turning and thumbs up. You can also You tube these products to see demos. There's more expensive products on the market but I like these and they're costs are reasonable.
Good Luck!!
