Hi,
I'm trying to buy a Stinger Premium AWD, in blue. I was at a dealer today (my first), and they told me the blue was not available due to a paint issue. Googling (in front of him), all I could find was issues with yellow last year. Was he lying to try and sell me the Panthera metal I test drove?

Follow-up: the blue is not very common, nor is the Premium. They don't want to order me one from somewhere else (or have one built?), but can they if they want the sale badly enough?

Thanks.

Look around. Kia is not doing custom orders, so chances of getting it that way are low (not zero as dealer might end up with same config).

Few Blue cars did have issue but there was no official recall.

Anyway Panthera Metal is a cool color too. Blue do seem rare on lower trims.

They can always try to dealer trade, however the other dealer is going to have to want to give up the car. Also there is going to be some kind of cost associated with a trade, even just time of someone going to get the car.

A dealer would almost always rather sell you a car on the lot than dealer trade or order.

Hi, Russ. I got my car on a dealer trade, while I waited in the showroom. They drove their car down to the other dealer and drove mine back up to me. I don't think that the salesman was necessarily lying. He probably heard something about Blue paint having issues. But I can understand not wanting to hassle ordering in a car from elsewhere if they can convince you to buy from their inventory.

Where are you located? Would be handy to put that in your user profile. The answer might depend on that.

In the USA, there is no "custom order" option, but dealers are sometimes able to secure vehicles at ports or on inbound ships. Otherwise, they can do a dealer trade/exchange.

Blue is available, there is no paint issue, but whether the combination you want is available depends on current stock. I've seen blue stingers sitting at local dealers, no idea what trim they are.

Do a dealer trade if you have to that's how I got mine. Blue paint issue he is pulling your leg.

Hey there @Ozstung, did you have Ceramic Coating applied over your Deep Chroma Blue, just curious and I can't remember if you did.

Yes I did and I'm very pleased with the result. I had it applied 17 months ago and I have a yearly visit from the applicator .costing $69 he reapplies some shit to keep it mirror finish.

Best to get ceramic coating applied when the car is brand new.

Blue had the second most paint issues after the Yellow, but only the Yellow had an official recall. If it's a 2019, I wouldn't have any concerns about the paint, blue or not.
