• PLEASE! It is VERY important that this area is not used for the discussion of technical issues with your Stinger. This section is for posting about regional-specific things like Stinger clubs, events, local vendor or dealer recommendations, KiaStinger.com member sightings, etcetera... In other words, I do NOT want people to need to scour through several different sections to find answers about their heads up display. That's why there's a section dedicated specifically to discussions like that. THANK YOU!

Dash Cam Owners Australia

Oh great flat battery completely dead, got it charging . Looks like I'll disconnect the relatively new Dash cam ,it could be this? I trawled through some Dash cam threads I'm sure I read somewhere @Coast GT Had some initial teething issues. The system is ment to switch off on low battery detection. Rang Kia they said a battery of that age should last a Month without being started. It's only been 5 days.

Never had a flat touch wood, but occasionally get a message on startup saying the starter battery is discharging due to external electronic devices. Check the settings on the power magic pro. See if it’s set to 12v or 12.5v. My installer told me the Stinger needed 12.3v for the smart alternator but my power magic pro is set to 12v/24hrs. Lately I’m lucky if it lasts 12hrs in parking mode, often it’s less before it shuts off. Also check what fuses they tapped for it. The dealership service department should hopefully be able to tell you the best fuses to use. I might double check with mine on Monday when she goes in for service.

Thanks Coast will check.

Checked magic pro set at 12.5v and the timer set at 12 hours. I'm thinking of reducing down to 6 hours of timing.

Yep that’s 12.5V and 12 hours. Flip number 5 up to the off position for 6 hours. Realistically the duration shouldn’t matter because it should be cutting out anyway when the voltage drops to 12.5V. Once power is restored it might pay to check how long the last recording on the dash cam ran for, it may help determine whether the PMP is the culprit. You’ve had this for a few weeks now with no dramas though haven’t you?

Yes 2 weeks and no dramas until now. I'm wondering if when the wife moved the car into the garage she didn't inadvertently leave an internal light on. The battery was completely drained of all charge.

You have to stop having those midnight rendezvous with your wife lol

Since we’re showing what we look like “down there” here’s mine :D

Have you tried changing your cut off voltage to 12.5V to see if that eradicates the warning messages? If 12.3V is needed to start the car you don’t want to be running the battery down below that.

Thought about it but haven’t done it, only get them now and then, it’s weird. Sometimes it’ll run 24hrs in parking mode, others it’ll go 12, sometimes it doesn’t even get to that. It’s definitely the car cutting it off. The guy that installed it seemed to think the 12v should be fine. I’ve never had a flat battery in the 7 months I’ve had the camera in. I don’t need it to record 24hrs, but the next one down is 12, and as I do 12hr shifts and am at work longer than the 12hrs I like it running while I’m parked there so 24 is the only option.

Changed to position 5:thumbup:. Had to get Horizontal to do it lol.

Sounds like you’ve been reading the Kama Sutra. I know they say pics or it didn’t happen but we’ll make an exception this time.
Wasn't that KIA Sutra, position #4?
