Damage done by Dealership need opinions

That sucks! I broke the plastic housing cap on my Highlander. At least that could be replaced without towing the vehicle but it was a pain to get the old one off.

It really makes me appreciate the vehicles that have the filter accessible from the engine bay and that use a good old-fashioned metal filter.

I can change the oil in my Audi using an extractor in 20 minutes.
I originally shrugged off all of the "be careful how much you torque it" warnings. I changed the oil and drove to an auto parts store to dispose of the old oil. When I got home I noticed oil drops down my driveway and into the street. When I opened the garage door my mouth dropped! I added about 4 quarts while waiting on the tow truck. I'm amazed I didn't kill the engine.

I've read a bit about the extractor process on the Audi forums. I was going to go that route to change the oil in my Audi but then I started reading about people breaking off the tubes in their oil pan. With my luck I'd be the guy to do that. So I decided to just let the pros handle it.

I use an extractor for my lawn mowers though. It works great for that.

I flip my mower on its head and let the oil drain into the same spot of earth each spring. Hey, it came from the ground, and to the ground it can return. Hah.

Cardinal Kia got it all fixed up ..... well the body shop they use did anyway . I'll post a pic next time I get the car washed.

Rocker panel damage.

FYI this wasn't caused by a Kia dealer, it was caused by a local Firestone shop which installed new wheels for me.

How did they fixed this dent in the rocker panel? I had one made to my car at the dealership. I took my car to a diagnose, oil change and tire rotation, I received series of dents in the rocker panel. The rims scratched and the car came out with a rattle sound. I will never take back my car to this dealership.

They’ll need to replace them. Your rattle sound is likely because those rocker panels are broken away from the clips. That or they didn’t attach your belly pan shields correctly.

Howdy and welcome. Is that mottled surface some kind of rust/weather prevention coating?

That's not a Stinger.

Had a dealer do the same thing 2 weeks ago during a oil change and I just noticed it this weekend when waxing the car. It’s a smaller dent than the other members itt but still unacceptable for a car this new that I paid 45k+ for. Called them today and they have a walk around video of before the service which clearly shows no dent even though the service rep says “it’s hard to see in the video”...
This isn’t the first time I’ve had a problem with a “simple” oil change as the dealer (different dealer) I bought it from overfilled the engine by over a quart of oil. Kia needs to overhaul their dealers/ service departments.
Going to get the dent repaired at a repair shop out of my pocket I guess. I think it’s time to invest in some ramps and start doing my own oil changes.
So what did it cost you to have a repair shop fix your dent? The dent looks pretty small (similar to one I have). I was thinking about leaving it as is and getting a side skirt to cover the dent. What are your thoughts on that?

I never ended up doing anything besides attempting to smooth it out with a heat gun (not sure if it did much). Its a pretty small dent compared to some others on here and the grey hides it. Wasn’t worth the money to buy a whole new side skirt and get it painted to me.

I’m sure a side skirt extension would cover it up some but then you have to worry about those getting screwed up.

Dealer took responsibility even though I didn't notice for a couple days. In my defense it was raining when I picked it up.

They sent it to the body shop on their dime and it looks perfect now.

Check your rocker panels before and after every visit!

Did they replace it or smooth it out? Still need to get both of mine fixed

Smoothed it out and added touchup, I'm not sure how much. If I get on the ground with the light just right I can barely see where the damage was. Thankfully mine wasn't as bad as some of the posts in this thread.

Unfortunately an all too common issue. Difficult to understand why it would be so hard to correctly position a pad.

Add me to the list! 1st service oil change for my 22 Scorpion at Rick Case Kia Coral Springs FL.
Went in for an oil change and came out with damage on 3 spots of the rocker panel and a curbed wheel.
Never really heard a true apology, however they did agree to order new panels and send them to be painted. Also to send the wheel to be fixed. I have been feeling disgusted all day about how this could happen, its not a Kia Rio, its a 50k plus car. These dealers/Kia needs to revamp the service departments.

That's f-ing ridiculous! Just plain lazy and thoughtless. I never take my car to the dealer unless it's a recall issue. You can't trust them. Find a good local mechanic and get a good working relationship with them. Hang out in the shop while they are working on your car and tip them $20 every time they do something for you. It's always worked for me. Knock on wood. It shouldn't have to be this way, but it is.

Even then they’ll still get you, last time I went in was over the summer for the fuse recall and figured I’d get my oil changed too. They dented my passenger side skirt, much smaller than what was posted above but noticeable in the right light.

Honestly, i'd take my car to a Jiffy Lube place before allowing the Kia dealership to put it on a lift. Both places have teenage kids doing the oil changes so you really aren't getting any benefit in taking it to Kia. That said, i would never take my car to a jiffy lube place either...
