I am still having the issue with the cruise control jerking while it is set. I have been telling the dealer for about 15 months and I filed a case with KIA, they all act like no one has ever heard of this issue, but I have found hundreds of other owners with the same complaint. I am confused with so many having this issue how KIA and the dealers act like they know nothing about it. The case has gone no where as far as I can tell the person that is supposedly handing it is rude and doesn’t listen at all and they have not met any deadlines for call backs at all. I have decided to get rid of the car because apparently they don’t care. I will make sure I let everyone know not to buy KIA.

I understand how you feel. That is why I no longer have a Ford. So far both Kia and the dealer have been pretty good.

I am having the exact same cruise problems. Kia wants to sell a premium car for a premium price, but does not provide quality engineering or back up their product. Who wants to spend 40k on a car and have broken cruise. I also had brake noises that took three times to fix. I hope they visit this site and do the right thing.

I filed a complaint and did the paperwork for Kia to buy the car back, waiting to see what they say. The dealer had my car for 4.5 weeks the last two months and had the regional engineer come out. They replaced the ecu/ Dcu and something else. Said it was ready we went and got it and drove it, went straight back and told them the issue still was there. Haven’t heard anything back. But KIA can’t deny they don’t know about this issue anymore.

Add me to the list of Stingers with jerky cruise control. Pretty disappointing, and even more noticeable when I switched to an MBRP exhaust. After my experience with Kia when trying to warranty a paint defect (~3 months of phone calls and waiting only to be told "too bad"), guess I'll just have to live with it.

Wait a second: how many of these complaints of jerky CC are combined with aftermarket exhaust systems? Kia would definitely point to that and say No.

My cruise control was "jerky" well before the exhaust. I'm just stating that it's more noticeable now, as I can actually hear the RPMs fluctuate with the jerky cruise.

I accept that. But will Kia Corp? Good fortune to you, pursuing this.

I had brake noises too that they told me could never be fixed. In the end they resulted to shaving it slightly to reduce the noise!

Frustrating to hear them say something is fixed yet you can reproduce the problem before even leaving their premises!

Maybe you are "Patient Zero!" The fact they did all that work does kinda mean they acknowledge the problem.

Not to resurrect this thread from the dead, but did anyone ever find a solution for the jerking cruise control?

I’ve given up using cruise control because the car, every 3 or 4 seconds, will drift down a few mph, then abruptly pop up to the set speed. Feels like a bowling ball swinging into the back of my seat. Not to hard, but uncomfortable. RPMs drop *just* perceptibly. Almost feels like driveline lash. Everything was stock at the time.

can you humor us and try it in regular cruise control mode? I believe you have to hold down either the distance or the cruise button on the steering wheel for 5 to 10 seconds to get it to switch over. if it doesn't do it in non radar mode, maybe its something with the front sensor in the grill.

Sure, I’ll do that this afternoon.

This is the first I’m hearing about accessing a ”regular cruise control mode”. I presume I’ll get a notification of some kind on the dash (or an audible mouse) confirming the setting?

Yes, on the display on the dash, it will pop up saying "Cruise control" instead of "radar cruise control" or whatever the popup says. I also cant promise that I told you the right button, but its ONE of the buttons that is related to cruise control on the wheel. I just found out about it last week myself and tried it on my 18 GT2, and it works fine, though I prefer the smart cruise.

the "jerking" you are experiencing is from acceleration, and not from braking?

Does the car drop a few gears? or just accelerate in 8th gear?

I don't think my stinger has enough power to "jerk" forward in 8th gear!

I don't believe the 2022 models allow you to revert back to standard cruise anymore according to other users....

my "jerking" wasn't really a jerk with the cruise... more of an almost imperceptible "pulsing" if you will.. 99% of the people in the car never notice it.. you have to hyper focus on it for my car... it just seems to be ultra sensitive on maintaining speed... the speed never changes on the speedo on mine.. if anything i think my "pulsing" is caused by the car trying TOO hard to maintain constant speed

“Pulsing” is a good term to use, but the decel is much more gentle than the accel. If I do nothing, the amplitude increases until it is much more than just annoying…almost uncomfortable…but I’ll admit to oversensitivity to things like this, alignments, tire pressures, etc.

I’ll see if the regular cruise control function exists in my 2022.

Yes, the accel is definitely the more impactful action. No change in gear. It’s too subtle for that, but will grow in amplitude if I don’t do anything. It happens in 8th, but I’ve also seen it in 7th.

"Regular" cruise control doesn't work on 22 models, only "Smart" cruise control.
