Hi everyone, I'm not having any rattles or anything like that, just an annoying creak thst happens when I turn right and drive over small dips. Sounds like something is flexing or bending right above the passenger side sunroof. When I press in the circled area with a decent amount of pressure, the creak is 100% gone as i turn right so thats how i know that is the problem area. Ive read up about the grab handles and the doors, im not having any issues with that either. Has anyone come across this issue and found a remedy?

Relatively common topic of discussion; lots of threads on the sun/moonroof noises. You are (maybe) halfway there: when stopped, go all around the opening and push up hard; if you feel/hear a Velcro-like response then something was not tight; and this alone is sometimes all that was needed to get rid of the extraneous noise.

I saw the discussion from a user named love to drive (something like that). His noise sounds different than mine, he described it as a plastic bag type of crinkling. That's not the type of sound I hear in my car. However I did try his fix anyway just to see and I didn't hear anything click whatsoever with a good amount of force I might add. I don't want to rule anything out and I appreciate everyone's suggestions. Doesn't sound like we have the same issue in common though. Do you have any idea where these so called clips are located? I looked at a diagram of the headliner and its.....puzzling. I'm willing to revisit that fix it you can possibly direct me better? On that note I tried stuffing foam, felt pads on the edges of the glass, greasing the rails, lubricating the seals, adjusting the height of the glass.....nothing worked. In this short clip youll hesr my issue

Use some rubber grease on the seals, also use on the door & hatch seals & that should eliminate the creaking.
I use this grease with great results.

I've greased the rails and lubricated the seals already. That didn't solve my creaking at all.
That’s unfortunate, it worked for me.

I do not. All that posts have revealed so far is that you push up hard all around the sunroof, and if you hear anything going back together that was probably the culprit.

I am hearing two noises in your video: the thump and a creaking (almost like a noisy steering column when throwing the wheel into a full turn).

I used to have that issue. The dealer replaced the Grab handle clips and I pressed really hard where the headliner meets the sunroof, all the way around. That fixed my problem.

The thump is actually me just changing the gear shifter I'm basically backing out rightward back and forth to produce the creak as i back out over a dip. I guess the recording exacerbates the thump from the shifter and makes it sound drastic but thats just the normality of the gear shifter, zero issues there. The specific creak can be heard at the 11 and 39 second mark. Its very prominent at those marks. So here is also what the headliner looks like pulled out (not mine) and the only contact/ retention points I see don't really look anything like velcro at all just some clips that probably click into the frame. Other than near the opening of the sunroof there's no other retention points on this headliner related to my issue. I went around a few hours ago and pressed hard in all 12 of these points and nothing was heard (mine seems to be solidly in place. I'd love to just pull the entire headliner and take a drive to diagnose better, I just don't wanna break anything. Got a 2019 GT2 with 11K miles, sucks to have to deal with his so early on.

Did you check out my video up top? I've tried pushing around in the 12 contact points and nothing happened, I removed the grab handles today (for the second time, nothing) I'll mention what you've said here to the dealer, I'm going in 2 weeks.

This summer I noticed what OP's sort of describes. A creaking, not quite squeaking sound from around the sunroof. Mostly happens when driving over something that would flex the chassis (think pulling into a slanted driveway). It's not what I would describe as a rattle at all. It's only noticeable when it's hot out (car sitting out in the sun) and has since gone away now that it's cooler. The only thing I could think of was flexing/rubbing between the glass pane and the seals?

I've debated putting some kind of grease/lube on the seals but didn't know what to try. I'm going to give these a shot!

I hope your noise is related to the seals because of it is then that's a super easy fix. My noise I suspect is related to the assembly of the sunroof frame to the body of the car. The greasing and lubricating of the seals doesn't do anything for my problem. Good luck

I have these exact same symptoms @Dsan. 1)Creaking around the sunroof from there is toque on the body in turns or when the suspension is significantly engaged. Sounds like grab and release between the car frame and sunroof frame. Significantly worse in warm weather. 2)the “chip bag crinkle” sound running across the headliner when turning at speeds above 25mph or so. I had to brake hard this morning and now the crinkle sound has moved from behind the sunroof to directly over the driver seat so I think there is literally something shift around up there.

Please tell me you found the solve?!? I’ve gone through all the steps you did - greased seals, pressed the headliner up hard, wrapped the grab handle backer in felt tape. No change. I think these are different issues than they typical rattles many folks on this forum experience.

I got fed up tonight and took the headliner partially out. I’m happy to report that if you have the sound of an rainstick or crinkling plastic bag above your head while driving your stinger…it’s seeds. apparently the previous owner left his sunroof open and a bunch of seeds found their way in. I vacuumed everything out good and no more rain stick!

Well, I'll be boogered. Nothing like that every occurred on here before. Glad your problem got solved as fast as you described it. That doesn't happen very often either!

Well partially solved. Still need to address the creaking sunroof. But 1 out of 2 ain’t bad.

ShinEtsu grease on the rubber seals - it's like magic

Obviously not Vehicle brand specific, but Honda used to have similar issues, and they resolved with this specific grease. It even gets a Honda part number (though it's just rebranded ShinEtsu grease).

I’ve tried a couple of different things on the seams and have some Shin-Etsu coming Friday. But I really feel the sound is coming from something stiff giving a bit when there is body torque. Will report back on Friday once greased again.
