I saw it Sunday the first time I went out to the garage. I did hear a noise when I was driving, although it did not sound at all like an exterior impact, I actually thought my daughter had let something slam closed inside the car. I can remember if we were driving near a bridge at that time or not.Holy crap! That is a first for me, never heard of that piece getting damaged before. When did you make this discovery? Apparently it wasn't while you were driving. But that looks like an impact from a falling heavy object to me. It wouldn't come from road debris flipped up.
Damn, that is pretty crazy/freaky any idea if it was a totally random bullet, someone shooting at you, or someone shooting at cars? Did you report it?You should hear something freaky, from when I was a very young man driving my first car, a VW Beetle. On the freeway, not near any overpasses, I caught a flicker above my eyes of something tiny, dark and fast in the air and "wham!" I had no idea WTH had hit my car. When I got off the freeway and parked I looked my car over and found the stainless windshield trim right in line with my head deeply dented in, and in the dent was lead deposit. What else was that, but a spent bullet? You've been tagged by something just as random, is my guess.
I did not report it. My location when the bullet hit the window trim was nowhere near any overpass or building. The size of the dent looked like a .22 long rifle slug to me also. I assumed some idiot shooting in the county had gifted me with a spent bullet.Damn, that is pretty crazy/freaky any idea if it was a totally random bullet, someone shooting at you, or someone shooting at cars? Did you report it?
I went through insurance, I have full glass coverage. Took a while to find a shop that would do that glass, and required a few phone calls with insurance (since it wasn't a windshield nor the sunroof the rep initially wasn't sure how to proceed). In the end they cut me a check and I paid the glass shop.Hey Boosted, how did this resolve for you? I have this exact issue on my 2023 GT Line. Was it a pretty straightforward "glass" repair? Trying to determine if I need to involve my issurance. I've already had a windshield replacement this year also.
