I've negotiated ten past leases, i feel as though i have a general understanding of the process. this, by far, was the worst car buying experience I've ever had, on many different levels.

i really wanted a stinger and in the end, i knew i was getting a solid deal, so i suffered with their tactics.

i've often described the car purchase process as a game that i only play once every three or four years, and my opponent plays everyday, all day. he knows the game, the rules, short cuts and cheats better then i ever will....the best i can hope for is to feel in the end like i received a fair deal.

they attempted to bait and switch me with similar cars, they had two black/red GT1's. with thousands $$ in different options. i had the stock# and VIN for the car i was negotiating. so that didn't work.

they tried to renege on the pricing we agreed on after making us wait around for 5 hours. the sales manager came around playfully asking for another $10 per month, then $5 per month. after another hour he gave in.

then, they tried to revise the lease payments in finance, after we had already reviewed the payment numbers and received authorization from two different sales and finance managers. claiming they never included tax in our quote.

they attempted to overcharge for the tag. adding several hundred dollars to my down payment and when i pointed out the mistake, they tried to use that money as a cap reduction instead of removing it from the down payment.

two additional hours in finance, they decided they didn't want to sell me the car at the price we had agreed to at all.... I threatened to expose their nonsense on social media, the general manager stepped in and agreed to our deal, with the understanding that i wouldn't go online and share my experience. on his way out of the finance office, he spouts, if i read about this online, i'll tear up this deal and repossess the car....

after all this, two days and more than seven hours, it turned out they didn't even have the car there...it was on display in a nearby mall. it took them three more days to get it out of the mall so i could finally drive it home.

if you live in South Florida, do yourself a favor, don't waste your time at Coral Springs Kia. there are just far too many other dealers in the area who will treat you fairly and with respect.

It is because of clowns like this and the ones here in Palm Beach county, that I bought my car from a dealer in North Carolina.

the GT1's with drive-wise are limited in my area, i checked every dealership in southern Florida. it didn't occurs to me to go out of state...

No worries man, you will love the car. Enjoy it.

What a saga. That was just the good parts version. Implied in the raw details was an agonizing battle of wills. I hope that you have a different dealership to get service at, because none of those guys are going to like you after this!

And it was at a mall!

LOL - @KiaofMuncie, you really should check out the guys here in South Florida if you want an abject lesson in shady practices. I literally went out of my way to negotiate and purchase a car for a good price, then paid around $500 to have it shipped to me here in the West Palm area, vs trying to even consider dealing with the Kia sales guys down here.

Usually the service department has their collective crap together, but the sales folks? Very hard to find good guys, especially at a Kia dealer. I think I found one good dude at the dealership in Delray, but they did not have the yellow I wanted, so I went elsewhere.

Kia has their work cut out for them in this area to be sure.

i have no intention of doing service there, unless i have to in order to have the 1st oil change comp'd. there are other closer dealers.

you're 100% correct, i only hit the highlights.

it was much worse

This was a big concern of KIAs during the Stinger training. Different animal (Stinger buyers) People that are enthusiasts who buy $50k cars for fun. You do not slam someone in a Stinger. I mean even a Rio customer deserves to be treated fairly. To try to change the deal multiple times is just shady.

If you're up this way, Napleton has a good service department. I have been dealing with then for my paint issues.

@PhilG You post anymore about this experience and we will rip this deal up and take back the car!

Unfortunately this is too true and i experienced the same when dealing with my lease. I also happened to hear another couple getting "taken" during my negotiations. I am telling the sales kid to "quit jerking me around" while they are accepting a 92 month deal...

I negotiate and write contracts for a living so this is second nature to me but still i wasnt expecting the treatment received by Kia Sales. Not too mention the first question i was asked was "how much can you afford..."

Glad you got it settled and enjoy the car. Find a decent dealer for service and warranty. I am driving 3x the distance for mine and i went through a lot in my area.

I’m basically between Gunther and Rick Case. I tried shopping with both but they were completely unwilling to go below invoice. Gunther had limited inventory, said they didn’t have to sell below invoice ... Rick Case was fixated on negotiating the payment and refused to talk about what they were actually going to sell the car for...

Sorry to hear! I recently had family up from Fort Lauderdale and they mentioned how Rick Case basically has a monopoly on car sales down there. They also mentioned how all they see are advertisement for the Stinger down in Florida everywhere, billboards, tv commercials etc. I thought it interesting because up here in Maryland I haven't seen a single commercial for the Stinger since the superbowl. Guess it's just the market down there!

its seems like the auto sales market down in Florida are dominated by Autonation and Rick Case. it's interesting your family mentioned seeing lots of Stinger add's honestly, other than Emerson Fittipaldi i haven't seen any Stinger advertisements...btw, why Emerson Fittipaldi? just sayin...

I am in the West Palm Area and I think I saw one ad (apart from the Superbowl ad).

My heart was set on a Charger 392 until a yellow stinger blew by me on I95 by the outlet mall.

I had mine within 2 weeks after a lot of YouTube and cyberstalking Kia.
