Coolant / Antifreeze at Minimum

I have a 2019 Stinger GT1 and saw the green coolant in the tank is right at the min.

I had some blue OEM coolant from my old Honda but did nto want to mix it.

Should I top it off with distilled water, buy OEM or just buy this? Valvoline™ ZEREX™ Original Green Antifreeze / Coolant : Product Catalog - Valvoline™

I wouldn't use the blue coolant.

You can do the Valvoline, or just go to the Kia dealership a(or a Hyundai dealer) and get OEM coolant. Also, like you mentioned, you probably could get away with distilled water. But if it gets cold at all where you live during winter, then I'd stick with the 50/50 solution.

Anyway, the OEM coolant isn't anything super special from what I understand; but, it's still a good idea to at least stick with the same color coolant.

Standard all makes green coolant. THAT makes me happy

Surprisingly, you will find this information in your owners manual, including the fact that being at "L" is within specs. If it drops below, then you should replace with coolant they specify.

Have you looked at the coolant reservoir? It doesn't take much to go from the low mark to the middle. Distilled water is fine. Keep an eye on level and also look for dried coolant stains on the passenger side of the engine near the upper part of the radiator/airbox. Those coolant quick connects are prone to leaking.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
Its not a coolant reservoir its an overflow tank
Its completely normal to be L / Dry

Wow, thanks for that vital piece of information. Have you submitted the necessary procedure change request to replace the 31 instances of the use of the word reservoir in the owners manual? 3 specific to the term engine coolant reservoir, 5 to coolant reservoir, and 11 total referring to the reservoir that holds engine coolant. BTW, only 2 instances of the word overflow and they both refer to the action of overflowing not a tank of any sort.

Thank you for your efforts. :sneaky:

The stupidity on this forum is just astounding, but not surprising. It's why I resigned.

Thank goodness for the ignore function.

The tank serves as both reservoir & overflow.
Must always check when cold to get accurate reading.
The High/Low levels aren't there just for the sake of it.
If it's at L or in between then top it up to H

Please don't spread such misinformation. Should the tank become empty, air will start being drawn in, by then the entire cooling system is in big trouble.

The overflow thank, like entire coolant system, is pressure sealed. No air will be drawn in.

I don't want to start an argument, but why would anyone risk running the coolant reservoir empty?

It's an expansion tank. As the coolant heats up, it expands and most have somewhere to go. Thus the tank.

On Saturday I looked at a new Stinger in the showroom floor. Guess what. No coolant in the expansion tank.

Saw a car that wasn't ready for delivery. Amazing.

I totally forgot the engine comes void of antifreeze from the factory. It isn't necessary for the first five miles on it. Nor any of those test drive miles before delivery.

You are a total waste of breath

I suppose every argument has its merit. However, you cannot deny that when engine is cold that's it's okay for the coolant reservoir/expansion /overflow tank to be empty. This clearly shows either a leak or not enough was filled from factory.
