Cleaning front windshield

I do a lot of night time driving. Streaks on the windshield at night are really annoying and bothersome. Not life or death mind you but annoying nonetheless.

I've used a couple different things on the front windshield but I have yet to find something that is completely streak free. Have used Armor All glass wipes and just plain ol glass cleaner with a paper towel.

What do you guys use to clean the inside of the windshield?

With all things glass I first gently wipe off excess dirt with a clean, soaked rag.

Then I wipe off the moisture. Finally I mist the glass with a diluted dishwashing liquid + vinegar mix and wipe off with a glass cleaning cloth.

And there you have it, streak-free glass.

Specialised glass cleaning solutions are absolutely unnecessary.

Hot water and vinegar is a great glass cleaner, I would add use warm or hot water, and if you hand wash the car cray bar / clay towel the outside glass.

Wouldn't be a bad idea to add a glass coating either I use Aquapel, lasts about 6 months and is inexpensive

if you don't use your wipers they are not a problem until you use them but your sprayer nozzles will tend to get clogged if you don't use them enough

What do you guys use to clean the inside of the windshield?

is there another windshield besides the windshield? addressing the post title and being pedantic.

I use the same thing on the inside as the outside, a spray bottle of purified water with a dash of optimum no rinse. I tried vinegar once, and I've used a dash of ammonia in the past, both work okay too.

the essential 'ingredient' in any wipe down of the glass is a totally clean microfiber.

lately I've appreciated having one side 'ribbed' with a microfiber scrubberlike material. one side of the cloth is soft normal microfiber. the reverse side is the same basic microfiber but has alternating stiffer weave rows overlaid on the basic microfiber which is very useful for cleaning glass you can really go to town on anything stubborn adhering to the glass.

my main complaint is that even after getting off any residue or clouding on the glass you still have all the imperfections ranging from the faint pattern between the sound resistant laminated glass to road rash and actual nicks left from rocks etc. those collect over time and get to be really annoying when the sunlight or a strong light source is playing directly through the glass into your eyeballs.

A clean, dry cloth should get rid of streaks, unless they are greasy.

The best product I have found for the inside and outside glass is AC Delco glass cleaner with a cotton or microfiber cloth. I wipe until the glass is absolutely dry. I also use RainX for water beading so that wipers are “optional” at highway speeds. The key to RainX is to use it very very sparingly. Apply too much and it can be “foggy” until some of it wears off.

I use Chemical Guys Hydro View. Spray on the glass and wipe with clean microfiber towel. Use another one to buff it. Be sure not in direct sunlight.

I tend to to call the front glass the front windshield and the rear glass the rear windshield due to working where I work. We have to check in impounded vehicles and the old check in sheets had a little diagram of the car with front, side and rear windshield listed on them. Worked here a long time so it's just a habit I guess.

Besides really cleaning the front glass I really need to buy a new set of stock wipers. I've never had a pair of wipers suck as bad as the ones I have. Usually anything is better than the factory units but it's the opposite with the Stinger. The stock ones were amazing! They just didn't last long and the rubber tore off pretty quickly.

my oem wiper blades lasted nearly five years. the way to save blades from ripping is to only swipe on very wet glass. so many drivers get ocd about the need to remove any and all specks of moisture. essentially your swiping the blades across dry glass. I have rainx blades right now. they work pretty well but for how long? I use the wipers seldom and that's the main reason why mine last a long time.

Invisible Glass and wipe the blades down with a paper towel with some WD40 on it. I have found that the stock blade inserts work the best if you clean them periodically with the WD40.

A long time ago I read that silicone oil helps to refersh wiper blades which are not torn, so that's what I use.

Probably does the same as WD40.

Isopropyl alcohol and preferably a microfiber/terry cloth to wipe. keep it simple. Isopropyl is great at cleaning oils, and it evaporates, so it leaves zero streaks on anything.

Just keep going until all the streaks and oils are gone; the alcohol will evaporate on its own, it doesn't hurt tint or anything in my use, I do my fair share of detailing, and it's my go-to for anything glass inside or outside.

Also, something else I'd recommend finding your favorite car wax/sealant/spray/coating or whatever you prefer and putting a layer or two of that on the windshield. I promise you, your rain visibility will be infinitely amazing and spectacular, and no, it won't make wipers chatter, mine never have, nor anyone I've detailed. I don't recommend it, but I don't even use my wipers sometimes. It can be really heavy rain, and as long as I have some speed, the water literally just rolls off. I love it so much!

Use Stoner Invisible Glass or Sprayway with two microfiber towels—one to clean, one to buff. Wipe in a crosshatch pattern. For stubborn haze, use isopropyl alcohol first. Avoid paper towels.

They tend to leave bits of lint behind.
