Hi Robert, and welcome.

The wisdom says that if you have cementite areas on your rotors, you cannot bed in new pads because the uneven temper of the rotors causes the cementite to stand "proud" above the rest of the rotor surface, thus attracting pad deposits. And cementite areas will not respond to turning of the rotors; it will still be there after being turned. You need new rotors if you have cementite. Changing the pads alone will be a waste of effort and money.
................Merlin , you're a car guy !! :)

4K miles on my GT1 and I have it. Rotors are back ordered. Extremely unacceptable. Compared to my other cars I’ve owned that had Brembos- these are the worst.

Fill in a noob please. Are these the Brembo brakes having issues? Or the base model brakes?

No one with 2.0L trims have been on here complaining about brake pad and rotor vibration issues; I haven't seen anyone chiming in with brake issues of any kind except Brembo brake users.

I have a 2.0 and no brake issues to date. I only have 3500 miles on the car though.

I have a 2.0 and am having brake issues. A month ago the pedal went to the floor and I couldnt stop. Luckily I was going less than 5mph pulling into a parking stall and the parking curb stopped the car after riding over it. After having it towed to KIA, they said they found nothing wrong. Now I'm having pulsing brakes at low speeds making a right turn. My Stinger 2.0 4cylinder has the basic brakes, not the Brembro. I'm planning to have the ABS system flushed for any air and possibly brake pads and rotor replacement. If that doesnt correct the problem, I'm trading it out.

ow, that’ sounds dangerous!

Kia replaced my brakes and rotors and they said they’re using updated rotors now so we will see. So far so good.

I'll be hitting 10k miles on my GT1 this year, but I haven't ever felt more than a very slight vibration in the braking, which was only temporary. With my short commute and driving style, I am rarely hard on the brakes; always come to an easy stop. Reading everyone's bad experiences with the brakes has made me hyper vigilant, but I haven't had any issues.

I'd be open to a preventative pad replacement, which seems to be the consensus on what is causing the issue.

Started feeling the vibration at around 15K miles and it got progressively worse. Just slowing the car down, gradually, from 50mph would cause the whole car to shake...to the point that whenever I have passengers, they would usually ask if there was something wrong with my car. Finally got aftermarket pads and rotors...the stock ones were absolutely terrible.

Same issues here, has happened 2 times over my 25k miles. I've done the brake bedding to fix it, that works for a bit, but it always comes back. It's doing it again right now, but I can't find a good time to fix it again, and even if I do, that can't be good for the life of the brakes.

Not like I drive crazy or anything either, just lots of mountains where I live.

As to the OP, I voted, won't publicly share my opinion on a class action.

I got my rotors turned about 2 months ago and my brakes have been great. The past few days I have been starting to feel the onset of the pulsating coming back. Unfortunately it looks like I might have to make a trip to the dealer about this. I might plan it for my next warranty service and just get all 4 pads replaced with someone that isn't OEM.

On my original pads and rotors after 33000kms (20500mi) and no problems. Wonder if it's confined to US vehicles since there doesn't appear to be anyone outside the US reporting brake shudder

Call the VIP line and tell them. It’s a known issue. They covered a full replacement of brakes and rotors and I haven’t had the problem since. I think they’ve upgraded the rotors. They did it for me because I told them I started noticing it before 10K miles just FYI. That seems to be the magic number for them.

This is the Brembo bedding procedure for new pads (though it couldn't hurt if you have deposits on the rotors):
Brembo - Bedding Procedure Guide

And if aggressively braking, let the brakes cool before stopping completely for an extended period to avoid transfer of deposits from hot pad to rotor.

I am looking into starting a class action lawsuit against Kia to do a full recall on their brakes and rotors and have everything upgraded so we don't get pulsating brakes after a few thousand miles from warped rotors. So many people complaining about this, and my Kia rep on the VIP line agreed and said they should do a full recall and just aren't doing it. They're replacing my set for free at 22K miles, but they said if it happens again it's on my dime.

Comment below if you've experienced this problem, or would like to add your name to the Class Action. Getting a count...
yes I started having the problem around 4 to 5k

Yup I have had the same issue from 4K miles I have one of the original production stinger GT 2/18 I’m now at 45k have my 3rd set of rotors on the car they are now cross drilled and slotted and the car still eats them alive warps them like nothing I have tried multiple break in procedures nothing works they all just warp after a few high speed runs ( ya know what the car was built for ) I’m getting so sick of it. They need to do something.
