Changed non-electronic shifter knob to Hyundai one

Ok so I have a 2022 GT1 and I ordered the N i30 shifter to swap the t-handle out. I’ve read this thread and I just had a few questions that I wanted to ask and clarify before I do it.

(1) Does the old t-handle get pulled off in neutral?
(2) While pulling off t-handle is button pressed in?
(3) Does the shaft get filed down about 1/8 inch?
(3) When installing N shifter, do I keep in neutral?
(4) While install N shifter am I pressing in button?
(5) Does it require a lot of force to seat new one?

I’m a little nervous to do it and I obviously don’t wanna screw it up so I’m grateful for the answers. Thanks for your help. I appreciate it.

1 - yes
2 - no
3 - depends i didn't have to on mine, but some have needed to
3 - yes
4 - No
5 - you should hear it seat but yes some force. At this point you will know if you need to file. Wont release from park or comes right off. If that makes sense

My experiences only.
For reference only, not blamable for any individual issues

Make sure you don't punch yourself in the face pulling that t-handle off. That little tidbit in the thread is true. And just because it's one of those things that never crosses anybody's mind don't forget your car's going to be in neutral so you may want to put the E-brake on or chock the wheels

I never thought of all that but I’m glad you mentioned it. I’ll make sure to be careful while removing it for sure. I appreciate it.
