Hi all,
Just joined and new to the forum.
I have eyed the Stinger since it's release and finally about to pick up a 2022 Stinger GT (AUS) in snow pearl white in a couple of weeks (Christmas present now) and looking to ceramic/ graphene coat the car for paint protection.
If you have had this done:
1. What is the best type/ name of coating?
2. Which detailer did you use (Sydney based)?
3. How was the experience?
4. How has the coating performed?

I live in South West Sydney NSW near Liverpool.

Thanks.
Hanice

i see people spending $$$ on ceramic coatings that last several years, but spray on coatings are so cheap and easy to do, i don't see why you'd bother, unless you live in an apartment and have no way to wash your car.

i use 303, or Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Graphene/Ceramic spray wax and apply twice a year ... it just gets sprayed on after washing the car when its still wet (some require a first time application while dry like a regular wax), and hosed off. a bottle is usually $15-$20 and you get 3-4 applications out of it. yes, they don't last as long as professionally applied coatings, but for an extra 10 minutes twice a year, its a no-brainer for me.

Welcome to the hive!

You can very easily apply a good muli year ceramic coating yourself, takes a couple of hours start to finish I would take the car to a Detailer to polish and prep it, then coat it yourself, check out a few YouTube videos tpo get your comfort level up

This is what I'm doing (Turtle Wax Hybrid), and because it's mostly just dust here I am down to once a year as the prior treatment was still hydrophobic after almost 8 months. More/less isn't as important as doing it often enough, based on weather in your area and wash frequency. IMO this really is a no brainer, for the cost and minimal application time at most twice or three times a year. I've done at least 3-4 applications now and still have half a bottle remaining.

I've also been trying to decide what I want to do. Seems so damn expensive to have a shop do surface prep, paint correction + ceramic coating let alone partial PPF + ceramic coating. I'm almost tempted to just find a place that'll do the whole surface prep + paint correction and polish, then do the ceramic coating myself and deal with whatever paint chips I wind up getting with something like Dr ColorChip. I'd probably feel differently if I was only keeping the car for 4 or so years before trading up to something else but I usually keep my cars until repairs cost more than the value of the vehicle.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
It’s expensive! I just do Turtle Wax Seal and Shine and top off with Turtle Wax Spray Wax. Very hydrophobic.

Ceramic coating won’t protect your paint from chips anyway. Do ppf if you want to truly protect your paint.

That's what I did, cost me $250 for the polish ans prep, and a morning to apply the coating

Thank you for the welcome and advice.
Will rethink the professional ceramic coating.

The Stinger is not a replacement but an addition to which I can use to enjoy weekend/ holiday drives with.
