Hey all. It’s been awhile since I bought a new car. I am in the process of buying a new one or maybe newish/used one. I checked with my insurance company (SF) on quotes. My state has bare minimum (25/50/25) which I know us a no no since everything cost a whole lot more these day. Vehicles, hospital/emergency care and property damage are all very expensive these days. I am doing 50/100/50 but dang the price is high IMHO. What insurance coverage ratios are you using and what is the monthly or yearly cost?

My quote was $800 every 6 months for a 2019 GT2. It was $740 for a 2021 GT. Doesn’t really make any sense there since it’s the same car but the GT2 has extra safety features and is 2 years older basically.

More expensive cars cost more to ensure. GT2 is full of a bunch of other goodies, not just safety tech.

Just renewed mine. I have 100/100/25 for my 2019 GT. It cost me $360 every six months. It is low because of my good driving record, being married, and I am a senior citizen.

It seems odd since 2019 used GT2 probably prices close to a new GT, but if you got into an accident off the lot then they're paying out for a used GT2 versus a less-used GT. That on top of possible statistical differences. The pricing isn't always logical, its statistical.

I have no idea how old you are, but at the ripe age of 24 I'd be pretty happy with $130/mo on a $40k sports sedan.

At the age of 51, I pay $73.26 a month with StateFarm for my 20 GT1. My liability sits at 100/300/100 and my Comp/Collision deductibles sit at $100.00. I also have the ability to rent a car if my car is laid up for a while.
Of course it does not hurt that I have been with StateFarm for over 29 years, and have another car and house with them; also married.

Actually, that is not that bad. But I would shop around. After I got my GT2, I ended up switching to Geico from State Farm. Several hundred dollars cheaper per year for the exact same coverage.

$57 a month through State Farm. There are a lot of factors that go into it, so my situation may be very different than yours.

40yo, clean record, they insure my house, drive safe and save...

drive safe and save with a stinger is a combo I wasn't expecting

My mileage probably offsets it. I only drive about 4500 miles a year. Also I will gladly sacrifice a low scoring trip or two for fun. *shrug*

When I traded in my 2018 Infiniti Q50 Red Sport 400 AWD for a 2020 Stinger GT1, my insurance went down $500.00 per year. First time my insurance went down in a long time..... It was the first time I saw my wife smile when it came to a discussion about cars.

I am paying 900/year fo full coverage. 2018 gt.

sounds like I have a lot to look forward to when I'm older

250/500/100 We have 5 cars insured for 934 / 6 mo. The 2020 gt2 stinger added 204 to the policy.

House, multiple cars, long history with Progressive, retired all helps.

Holy cow. You're getting ripped off. Shop around. You are literally punished for sticking with an insurance company these days.
I normally shop house insurance every 7 to 10 years and car insurance every 3 to 5 years.
Last time I changed house insurance I saved 50% for literally exactly the same coverage. Seriously.

Totally agree with you here. I was with SF for 20 years and dumped them because they just got to high. Now I am covering three cars, one teenage driver and still paying less than what I was with SF a few years back. I now work with an insurance broker who represents several different companies and I shop everything every few years. What I have found is the companies offer you low rates to get you in the door and then bump you 3-8% every year.

This. Exactly. You are forced to switch car insurance every few years. Also what oddball said. I had Geico for close to 10 years because at the time they were by far the cheapest. When I switched I changed to Progressive. Exact same coverage and amost 50% less.

I have Geico 100k/300k/50k, $250 comp deductible, $500 collision deductible
paying $844 for 6 months
expensive but I'm 25, so that's why
