2022 GT-Line in Florida. Every time I try to run the navigation update on my pc it says it's unavailable. My last update was January 2025

My last update was March of 2024. From what I've read since then, KIA is no longer updating the system, only the maps. But I don't know if that is accurate information.

Yeah but there's an update available it says on their website from October 2025.

I'm trying to update mine via OTA to ck_pe_23.usa.s5w_m.v014.010.250818. How long does this take once downloaded? I just got the car a few weeks ago and noticed it was going on on the background. Let it run for about an hour in the driveway, it finished downloading and shows this. But it isn't installed?

Is this an over the air update? Never tried it.

Typically installs from usb flash drive take 45-90 min (or more) depending on how many updates need to be installed to get to the latest version. That is, if your car's latest nav update is from 2021, then there's a number of updates to get to the 2025 version. Do it with a battery charger connected and car in on but not running state.

Yeah I'm the second owner so who knows when the last update was. Good idea on the charger and accessory state so it can run as long as it needs to. I transferred Kia connect to my name and a few days later this update hit as an OTA.

Not accessory, but ON I think.

I noticed over the years updates getting bigger and bigger. Latest one is around 50GB. The one I did in '22 was around 38GB.

How does the ota update work, downloads on its own or using your cell phone's data connection?

Honestly I have no idea, not a lot of info on OTA updates I could find.

What about earlier model years using the onboard SD card? That is only 32 GB. The update in 2024 went forward without a hitch and took well under half an hour of driving to complete. I have always gone for a drive while the update completes installation.

^^Good question. They probably just offer the final version for the sd card variants. This would be a great strategy for the later models too. Why do 5 incremental updates if you never updated the thing.

How else do you explain the 12GB+ increase in size between the 2022 update and 2024 (not even considering 2025)?

Apparently there are updates for the earlier versions using SD cards and USB versions when the model years excluded the SD port. What the smaller versions might be lacking compared to the later, larger versions is anyone's guess. I don't suppose that earlier SD versions will take the USB updates. I think that I've read on here of some experimentation with this to no avail.

Put it on a trickle charger for 4 hours and nothing changed. Maybe have to leave it overnight. Otherwise, I'll contact Kia connect support or a dealer.

I left it overnight, crappy trickle charger didn't do it's job with the screens on and was dead in the AM. Jumped it, update was ready to install so it did download. Installation took about an hour and all looks good now. I can finally do future USB updates as well, the firmware wouldn't let me initially. Glad this is resolved. I guess I'll let it trickle charge for another few nights to make sure the battery is topped off, no screens on (duh).
