I bought my 2018 California Red GT limited which had about 500kms on it sitting as a showroom model with 3M protection applied to it for CAD 48,000 all in OTD and with 2 years of free oil changes. Not sure if this is a good price.

Looking for the same car in a MY19 or 18 out here in Vancouver. Curious how the process at the Kia dealership went for you, as I've read several times that the service is not the greatest.

Also curious how you settled upon that number, and if dealers are effortlessly throwing out discounts these days or if you had to work hard in negotiations to get it.

I had to really work hard to get it. Walked out of the dealership twice before they even budged. They said It was the worst deal for the dealership in the end.

I'm assuming you've been hovering around the YVR thread as well. Last week, I asked in that thread what dealer they would recommend and their negotiating price. I actually pulled the trigger just last weekend thanks to their recommendations (haven't had the chance to reply back to that thread yet lol).

I went in to take a browse at Kia Richmond since it's in my local neighborhood. I went for a test drive and planned to just get a quote of the possible deal they could give me. Immediately, the sales guy brought in the general sales manager to negotiate. The general sales manager wanted to know whether I would buy a car today, and I stated only if a good deal was present. Long Story short, I definitely did not enjoy the negotiating portion, as the general sales manager was quite pushy and made it an uncomfortable experience. However, I ended up purchasing it that day as I felt the deal was good, they gave me a good trade-in value, and I most likely wasn't going to get a much better deal elsewhere. I got a bit over 3k off MSRP, and no type of administration fees, $49k before trade-in. Feel free to ask anymore questions, or DM me.

Congrats on the new car! That does seem a little stingy on the local dealerships part. Curious if you had your heart set on the MY19 or did you explore picking up a GT Limited MY18?

I took some time to scour the the forums and threads on the internet regarding pricing and it seems like price for these vehicles, especially in the US, have wild variations. Cases where people picked up their GT2s in the low 40s and sometimes even high 30,000s MSRP, crediting their success to the desperation of Kia dealerships trying to get rid of these cars.

Is there a reason the Canadian market has not seen a more reasonable price adjustment? I've seen 2018 cars asking for the same retail price as 2019s from dealerships.

It's probably as simple as it being so much better of a deal in Canada relative to the local market.

I get the feeling (but don't have definitive evidence) that Kia has more brand loyalty or is otherwise more popular with consumers in Canada. We didn't get a special Stinger hotline like the USA, so it feels like the marketers worked a little harder in the USA to drum up business and build brand loyalty? On the other hand, we did get more options than the USA, and dollar for dollar we pay less for the car when compared to USA at MSRP, this might come down to import taxes, but again I haven't done the research to see the rates for sure. We don't have a Trump tax against Korea, I've heard the USA does....

Everybody's got an opinion, but this isn't the place for that.

Leave the politics out of it, please.

His comment doesnt sound political its a fact and Trump wants everything branded so its truthful

I believe in Canada Kia just doesn't have anything left on the table to offer Canadians. Kia Canada did their market research and found out what the market would bear. If you do a direct conversion from USD to CAD for the GT2 which the closest to our GT Ltd, it's like $68,000CAD. I just don't think anybody would buy a "Kia" in Canada for that price. Make no mistake, there is a lot of price resistance for Kia based on brand alone, doesn't matter if the stinger was actually a rebadged BMW 430, people still wouldn't be bringing $70,000 cheques to a Canadian Kia dealer.

People on both sides of the boarder already have sticker shock and balk at the $48-52k we are paying for the top spec Stinger.

For the record, in November I picked up a 2019 Ltd for the same price I was negotiating for a newish 2018 demo car at another dealer. So, it seems to me that all Ltd's have to be sold in a narrow window of price for dealers to not loose their shirts. They're only really making money on service and extended warranty's.

Just picked up my 2019 GT Limited for $47,000. Spent the last 3 days working a Kia dealer against a Genesis G70 until I got the best lease deal I could get. G70 leases better due to higher residuals so Kia had to come down on price quite a bit to match the lease payment as they had no other way to match. Also got them to toss in 5 years free maintenance to match the Genesis offer.

gotta love end of the month shopping!

Nope, I told them I didn't want the one on the lot that had obviously been the test drive model for this year with 495km on it. I know I beat it pretty hard on the test drive and I figure everyone else did to. One coming in from Kamloops with 27km on it.
