It would be super obvious for piggyback/ecu tuned car. Just keep your eyes on timing pull you’ll notice the brand of fuel matters. For bluetooth obd2 apps, car scanner pro is able to log timing pull for each cylinder. Is it possible to figure out what octane you have in the tank using data from an OBD2 scanner?
Otherwise what's the best way to confirm you're actually getting the octane you're paying for?
No, I don't believe so. You can test for amount ethanol content, but not octane afaik. Is it possible to figure out what octane you have in the tank using data from an OBD2 scanner?

Do you have JB4? Go on map2 and log different brands. The ign2-6 will blow your mind unless your local refineries are all MTBE users. For a tune like lap3 stage 1.5 the result can me more dramatic, you might see some brands pull 6deg timing while others only pull 3.It's been bugging me for years. For all the crazy stories and speculation I'd hear of gas stations that mix/dilute/substitute their gas, I've no way of actually knowing WTF I'm getting.
I've looked into it but the cheapest option for testing was using 5 figure lab equipment. And it didn't really matter when my 4 banger ran on whatever was cheapest, but now that my car needs 91 oct, I'm a bit more curious.
I'm gonna buy/borrow a reader and see what it says, though I've no idea how to interpret the data.
