Cabin Air Filter

I know the cabin air filter is behind the glove compartment. There are two two retention (I presume) devices but they don't allow the box to come off. Not interested in damaging something. If I can't do it myself, will let the dealer do it at the next oil change.

The Stinger is the first car I've taken to a dealer for oil changes in 60 yrs. Did one correctly but I don't like the funky filter and all the body cladding doesn't make a partial rotator cuff tear happy.

Those 2 stoppers rotate then pull out from the inside of the box, then that allows you to get to the support strap to drop it all the way down.

Again, thanks, new cabin air filter in and I'm sure properly fitted. In my very early years of working on cars, I broke some things which made me be more careful.

It might be considered premature at 9171 miles but Kendall Cty, TX where we live, is in the middle of an epic drought, the worst in the entire state, so lots of dirt in the air. Rather err on the side of an early change than wait too long. Do appreciate your assistance. Don

'support strap'? wth?? I never saw that before. with the stoppers removed the glove box will drop enough for me to get my fingers in there and finagle the filter out over the top of it, and that's what I've done a few times, it's a royal pain in the neck. thanks for the info. I just checked my cabin filter, good to go. lol it was a piece of cake. read the manual I thought I had but missed that detail, probably a ton of other stuff also. lol.

the support strap is what gives the glove box the "slow" opening and doesn't slam down. if you pop it off the glovebox drops down much farther making it super easy to get the filters out.

pushing down on the glove box with the strap on and the stoppers removed to get to the filter sounds like an easy way to break the strap. it pops off very easily and snaps back in just as fast. of course then it dumps the entire contents of your glove box on the floor.
