It's been multiple times when I start the car The break padel is hard to push. It's like no power. So I have to press it very hard to get the car started. Any idea?

Thanks

Same thing has started happening to me. Car still turns on fine but not sure what cause my break pedal to fill hard before turning on the car

Software update?

I wouldn’t think of it as an issue unless it keeps you from starting the car

If you press the brake multiple times with the engine is off it will stiffen up because you lose vacuum power assist. If this is occurring and you did not press the brake pedal with the engine off you may have a vacuum leak.

Exactly, the vaccum assist module only holds so much vaccum either the engine off. Also, if you leave the car parked for more than a day or so, the vaccum will eventually leak and you'll effectively have an unassisted brake pedal for the initial press before the engine fires up. This is actually true for all cars with vaccum assisted brakes, but since the stinger actually has a fairly tight brake fluid loops (less rubber hoses for expansion), it's more noticeable.

I am not pressing it multiple times. However, I am only driving a couple of minutes to the train station. Then I park the car and will turn it on in the evening after work. Is it not long enough?

I have another car Lexus. Sometimes, it doesn't drive for weeks. Never, ever, has it happened to this car. And my Stinger does it practically all the time now. Time to see a doctor for the first time.

The vaccum booster isn't designed to hold vaccum for long when the car is off, that being said, from morning to evening, it should be able to hold enough pressure, there might be a minor leak, but as long as your pedal is not hard whole driving, it won't be considered outside normal operation

One way to see if your vacuum booster isn’t working properly is at a stop. If you are on the brake pedal for an extended amount of time and you feel the pedal slowly start moving down, you have a vacuum leak. If not, you should be ok

Thats actually incorrect, what you described is a leaking Master Cylinder (brake fluid circuit) The vaccum booster is a large circular casing case with a vaccum diaphram inside which acts as an assist to the brake force when you press on the pedal.

If you (I mean "I" :p) is at a stop and the break is pressed with auto hold on, when I lift and re-press the break it stiffens. Once auto hold is turned off or the car is in gear the break can be pressed. Seems normal. I don't recall the break stiffening when I'm starting the car from cold though.

My bad, that’s right. That happened with my Bronco. I guess it would be the opposite then.

As of now every time when I start the car the brake pedal has no boost at all. Taking my car to the dealer later today. I called them a few days ago setting up an appointment and explaining what was going on. They guy (they called themselves technical advisers) had no clue what I was taking about.

Just spoke with another dealership and a guy was saying it's normal. Does anyone else have his car with the same brake pedal behavior?

just had it happen this morning with my G70, and its happened 3-4 times before that in the 13 months Ive owned the car. No idea whats causing it, and I havent brought it up to my dealer. Everything seems ok though, no other symptoms or issues

Just got back from the dealership. As expected no problems found. They brought another brand new car to show that it also has the brake pedal thing when starts. Now I am confused, whether the way it used to work was THE problem, shouldn't work like this in the first place. Maybe it was a free bonus from a dealership I bought it from? Just to say we are like a Lexus, well, almost.

Did you ever find a solution to this? Mine started doing it as well. The pedal is rock solid before starting the car. Everything else seems fine. If I turn off the engine and press the pedal it stiffens after the third push, as expected.
Still, weird feeling when I turn it on the first time. Definitely didn't do this until a few weeks ago. Brake fluid was changed about 12k km ago.
Could it be because the pads are close to replacement? (even though I don't see any connection)

Nope, the word is "not enough compressed air". My better drives Lexus, nothing like this even with no driving for weeks.
