Brake pad deciphering

Did you perform a bedding process with the Akebonos?

I'm running the Girodisc Magic pads with newish OEM rotors (installed about 3,000 kms ago). I love them so far, only negative feedback I have is that they can squeak when wet and cold when slowly applying the brakes going down hill, but even that only happened 2 times so far.

Thanks for the reply. Ordering the Magic pads now.

So....I take it no one has tried the G-Loc pads.

I guess I'll have to be the guinea pig. Damn front rotors are pulsating at freeway speeds. Rebedding has solved it before, but it keeps coming back.

I'll try out their street pads.

Although I changed my rotors out as well, I am running dba pads since January & they have given me no issues at all, so these could be an alternative option for those of you still suffering pulsating issues.
I am running the XP pads on the front & the SP pads on the rear.

Nice. I wasn't aware of those being available for our cars, primarily the rears. Where did you get them?

I got them from a local dba supplier here in Sydney.

Try dba USA website, could be a reseller/stockist in your area.

I looked, the USA site is hopeless. Doesn't even pull up the pads when I search for the part number. Neither does it allow me to lookup via vehicle type, doesn't give me Kia as an option.

I emailed a local performance shop that advertises DBA products. We'll see if they can get ahold of those. Thanks for posting the pics with the part numbers, I appreciate it!

That’s disappointing, maybe one of the resellers on this forum can help.

Also this vendor on this forum sells dba as well
Brakes

Possibly...
I see you have them in stock. If the Akebonos get worse I'll buy a set of the Girodisc pads.

Finally success with new rotors all around after the Magic Pads didn't do well either on the original but resurfaced rotors. I guess to old rotors were just beyond help.
Now no more pulsing, even after 10k driven. Smooth as butter. Cold performance is a bit weak as expected but once a little heat gets into them they work great. Just a tad dust and a little shudder when the breaks release from Auto Hold but that also is normal with a metallic compound.
The PosiQuiets in the rear are fine too. Finally the car stops like it should, smooth at any speed, even with hot brakes.
Now onto getting the alignment right...just had to get 4 new tires as supposedly the camber was set wrong last time and caused sidewall failure on Michellin AS 3's in front and cheap Ironman's in the rear (after 25 k).

Anybody with Magic Pads experiencing constant squeaking when applying light to medium pressure on the pedal? I'm running OEM rotors - wondering if its that, the heat & humidity, or something else?

I'll get some pictures up of some T3's I just got
That’s great, will be keen to see them all fitted up, you should not be disappointed with them.

Looking to get the magic pads from girodisc. Can anyone comment on how the initial bite is compared to stock?

Circling back on my use of the Akebono Street Performance Pads on the front. They are fine for the street...definitely a replacement for the stock pads. They do NOT hold up to a track day. By the 3rd 20-minute session they were roasted and since then have been making some pretty loud sounds when braking moderately hard from 50+ MPH.

If I hadn't tracked them, they'd probably still be fine and were fine for Autocross levels of abuse. Just not able to handle track days.

I have upgraded rotors and fluid so it wasn't necessarily fade from those parts of the system.

We had an event at VIR this weekend and saw my first Stinger at the track. He had EBC yellow rear and Hawk HPS 5.0 front. I can't imagine that was confidence inspiring. How do you have fun on track if the car won't stop?

I mean you would know better than me (I have bought from your store so so many times) but yeah probably as scary as my last session LOL!

I am thinking about the EBC Blue, what are your thoughts for a Daily Driver with 1-2 track days a year?

I thank you for your patronage.

Not pointing fingers at all. Just a question.

It's always been a question of mine. How do you go on a track and drive with insufficient brakes? Early on I faded Hawk HP+ on my WRX at Summit Point. I wrecked my Corvette due to what is called 'ice mode' (and soem red mist) and I had a caliper come loose on an E30. If it looks bad I change it.

I wouldn't even consider a Stinger on track unless I had strong race pads. Seems pointless otherwise. How do you go fast without brakes?

The result of no brakes is potentially wrecking and injury, the result of no engine is pulling over. Seems like an easy decision of what to spend on.

As far as the product question.

China is not yet making good race friction. (Powerstop). It seems to fall apart when put to the test. EBC has not fared much better IMO.

The Stinger is heavy and fast with good sized rotors and smallish pads - and you are not likely on race tires. So I'd run a medium friction pad that was durable. Raybestos ST-43, Pagid Yellow or PFC 08. Everyone makes the front D1001 shape, but unfortunately few make the rear.

PS Has anyone figured out if the 17mm thick D10012 pad fits in front? That's 8 mm of pad material pre set if so.
