Mine arrived today, have yet to install it. Anyone else run a aftermarket transmission cooler and what are your experiences? IMG_20210821_151116.webp

Don't run one on the stinger but do on other cars, They definitely help prolong the life of a transmission, especially if you race, tow or anything else that puts a lot of load on the transmission.

Posted my feedback on Facebook today.

Some before and after logs with Burger Motorsports Trans Cooler. Before the cooler, I would hit 200 degrees pretty quickly after a few back to back pulls or driving long distances. After the install, the highest I have seen is 183 degrees after 8-9 back to back pulls. Both before and after pulls were with launching the vehicle and ripping through the gears up to 5th.

Great product and cheap insurance if you ask me.

Would love to see pics of it installed to see how much of the core is in the airflow when you've installed it please.

Mine is a G70 but same same.

Not exactly a plug and play install for me. The Mish fmic was a bit too tall so I had to bend the cooler brackets and slot it between the Mish and the crash bar. Also had to cut up the middle of the intake shroud thingy. Got the shroud to fit and the cooler secure. I bought it thinking it would be a plug and play kit but now they should lower the price by $200 for Mish users. As far as performance, a good bit of it gets blocked by the crash bar and the cruise sensor. I would give it a 5/10.

Many thanks. It does look good but confirms my concerns about hiding behind the crash bar.

Maybe a wider and less tall cooler would suit. It looks pretty straight forward so I might start doing my homework and see what's available.

Thanks again!

Err.... that is as plug and play as it gets. They made a custom AN adapter block, nice crimped lines, and some unique brackets. Doesn't get much better than that.
There are dozens of cooler cores on the market, so it's easy to find one that fits a little nicer. But then you've got to make your own brackets and, most difficult, adapt onto the stock cooler line.
For what we're talking about, the crash bar is not a big deal. It'll get *plenty* of air.

I agree it's a nice kit and very plug and play (for the masses). The more I look at the pics the more I see why this kit is the way it is but that's not to say it couldn't be better.

I just don't like putting any form of cooling radiator up close behind a big dead air spot.

Like the Wagner I/Cooler.

Just my preference.

Mine is completely exposed and not behind the rebar really. Could be different for the stinger though. I have a G70.

I'm sure there is plenty of air hitting all three rads. Did your G70 have a Shroud like the Stinger does and you removed it? Quick couple of questions. Before you installed the new cooler did you fill it with ATF since it takes about an extra quart. Or did you top up via the transmission fill hole under the car? With the Stingers having a sealed transmission, I'm figuring I will fill the unit before attaching the hoses and setting it in place. Also did you replace the Oil Valve O rings before connecting the -10AN Billet supplied to it.

Not the guy you asked but I filled up my cooler with whatever ATF I took out of the old oem one before I put it in. Didn't replace the o rings, mine were still good and a tight fit. No leaks there. I also took it in to get the ATF topped off.

G70 Doesn't have the shroud like the Stinger does.

I did a "flush" while I was doing the trans cooler. Basically drained 4 qts, added 4 new qts. Then drained 4 more qts and added 4 new qts. However if you are not doing that, its about 1/4 of a quart more to add with the new trans cooler. I just filled the cooler before I installed it also. All my rings were in good shape. the install is very basic and quick.

At the expense of sounding like an idiot, can someone explain how this thing works? I see 2 inlets but nothing that connects them, so how does it circulate it?

One's an inlet the other is an outlet. Fluid circulates through the inlet into the runners then out the outlet, like any radiator.

Those straight, "runner", pieces the go from one side to the other are actually pipes, in case you didn't realize.
