Black chrome trim discoloration on GT front bumper - Any suggestions on keeping it clean??

Doubt "most". But if it's on yours, that is the bottom line. Incidence is moot at that point.

Hard water is the main causation. Chemicals offered as car care products can have a detrimental effect in combination. Too much of a good thing, I'm thinking. Simple is best. Start with hot, soft water and microfiber (or at least 100% cotton terrycloth). Try isopropyl alcohol. If these do not phase the spotting, hazing, discoloration, then I would get Kia involved at that point. But if you've applied some combination of car care products then the dark chrome finish is possibly permanently stained. Kia might fight warranty then.

Disagree, it's in the upkeep/washing/detailing etc. Apply the correct products and techniques and there shouldn't be an issue. Would you take your car back to Kia if there were water spots on paint work because you didn't dry it properly and left it hot sun?

I have the same issue, at the same spot on both sides of my car. I tried various cleaners and it doesn't bring back the coating. I really think that the oils from my hand are interacting with the coating and causing oxidation. I brought it to my dealers attention and they are escalating it.

This is a very good theory. Have you noticed other metal discoloration from your touch? I had a work mate whose fingers were positively acidic. We worked with steel dies, and everything he touched went dark, even bluish. So this does occur "in nature"!

I detailed mine today. The chrome has a blackish purpleish look. Almost like some type of fluid has dried on it. I'll have the dealer check it out. Can't wipe clean.

I have the same issue with my gt2. It's looks old and oxidized. Probably just gunna black it out

I had all my front chrome and side vents as well covered in PPF. There is a kit out for it.

Could you provide a name or link to the PPF for the chrome?
