Bigger Turbo Options for the Kia Stinger

How much did it cost you without the chip? Their 512 kit seems overpriced for an intercooler, catback, and intake. $4k?
JTs intercooler is more than just that. His piping to the car replaces a piece where the air splits off to the turbos that the BOVs sit on. The pipe diameter and bottleneck in the stock piece is eliminated with his piece!

I am still keen to add slightly bigger turbos and in looking at the in built manifold, would likely need to laser cut some steel and machine finish to match then weld a large stub pipe. I know there isn't much room around current turbos, but potentially if fabricating a new bespoke manifold and pipe, could re-route to a different location , and possibly above the motor, but obviously you would then need a boss 429 style bonnet scoop to make room for the turbos and re-route cold air directly to them. Depends on how much money one wants to spend lol.

It may be possible to get a larger or more efficient compressor into the stock housing (it may need work to achieve this).

If the market becomes big enough to justify the investment in development, after-market larger turbos will certainly start to appear.

Almost done with my twin big turbo custom fab job. Went with twin Xona Rotor Turbos. Mounted in same stock location for sleeper look. Custom fab flanges, manifolds, compressor housings, turbine housings. Throttle body is rotated 180 degrees to make room for the AC lines. From here we are off to the tuners. Max HP is well over 900 but not looking to blow the block. Only looking for 620-650 whp made nice and reliably all the time. Looking forward to getting my baby back!! The fab work is being made into a kit by WOR Fabrications in Racine, WI and he will have exclusive rights for those of you looking to purchase a complete turbo kit for yourselves soon.

Yep anything is possible these days with all the tech and smart people out there. it just takes a lot of cash to make it happen. Good luck sounds awesome keep us updated.

Who is doing your tuning?

Correct, the bigger the more lag, however if you stick with twin scroll turbos, it will help with lag. As long as you aren’t trying to go single T88 twin scroll you’ll be fine and probably upto 50mm will have minor lag. Of course, if you’re going anywhere near 50mm or higher, that motor needs to be beefed up.

I’d love to go with bigger turbos, but I’m sure we’ll need to wait for ECU options as the current will throw codes all day long and stay in limp mode.
you can always go with assymetrical turbos like bmw did for awhile. I had done that to my old volvo r's back in the day.

Interesting. I just bought a new stock turbo so I think I will leave them alone for now. 500whp is possible on stock turbos

let it rip

They love to eat rear tires at the 450 and up wheel hp it’s great fun . Good luck

If the throttle body is rotated 180 degrees that means the charge pipe from the intercooler also has to go all the way to the rear and then make a 180 turn back into the throttle body. Will there also be room to still mount catch cans?

I think he's referring to when you're looking at the TB head on, rotating it 180 degrees is like turning it upside-down, so that the connector harness plugs in on the right side of the TB instead of the left, and the coolant lines will actually be in the top of the TB as well. This just makes a little more room around the passenger side turbo.

Ok I can picture that better. Thanks.

Yeah it pretty tight in there with the turbos. The tune is what will make or break this build.

Hello

What is the compressor inducer and also turbin exducer if you measure in mm. Then we can look at a compressor diagram at Garret and see how far stock turbos can take the power.

Thanks!
