Been called out by an M340i xdrive

I watched some numbers regarding the M340i xdrive. I was under the impression it was a 12.1-12.2s car but according to some videos on youtube it can do 11.9 @ 115-116 stock.

Since best I could do on racebox was 12.3 @ 113, I'm a bit worried. Did have stock intakes and no snorkels though.

The stock intakes on the stinger are apparently ridiculously restricted and I've read reports here that the snorkels help with trap speed. Not expecting a miracle here but I do hope it'll make a difference. Otherwise I'll be done for.
Like i sad, your only hope, he doesn't know how to launch it. Also, you are sure he is not tuned? Maybe he is just saying he isn't, to trick you. Because if he is, he will beat you really bad.

Yeah, I think most people here are thinking of the old M340i, previous gen.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the M340i specific to current's generation 3 series? Like the 340i from the previous generation did not have the "M" before "340i"?

I think BMW heads aren't consistent here. When the car is bought in M-sport trim, they enthusiasts tend to refer to it as "M", even if it isn't labeled as M340i or M550i or whatever. There are usually three trims, a luxury trim, a sport trim and an M-sport trim. AFAIK, these have always been available for the 3/4 series, regardless of the year and whether they are calling it Mxxx. They were for mine.

Good luck man!

Race confirmed to be this Sunday!

Edit: Just wanted to add that he confirmed he had an aftermarket exhaust and nothing else. He doesn't need any other mod apparently (his words). Other than that, the dude kept bragging again during our break. I told him I wasn't so sure it would be as much of a gap as he thinks it will be but then he started laughing and said he already beat tons of cars faster than mine.

He's well aware that my car has some mods yet he doesn't give the slightest concern. Plus there were some guys with us during our break that laughed alongside him thinking alike.

On one hand I can't wait to figure out which is faster. On the other hand his god damn confidence coupled with his attitude concern me for the aftermath in case I lose

Sheesh, sounds like you work with high schoolers.

If you beat him tomorrow don't ever give him a rematch. If he loses he'll manage to find the $400 for a used JB4 and the rematch will be completely lopsided.

Before the race look under his hood to see if he's already running a JB4.

This 100%

How are those logs? This is a couple of launch control WOT on map 2 using 91 octane fuel (best I can get around here) and half a can of VP Racing octane booster. Seems decent to me but I‘m no expert when reading those things. Ign 2-6 doesn’t seem to fluctuate too much while I have no idea if those AFR value are good. Fuel wires are installed on the JB4.

Check to see what your local airfield has, 100LL (don’t use, will coat parts with lead) is the staple, but there are new unleaded fuels becoming available and are available in some places.

Just went out doing some quick 0-60 acceleration pulls on a deserted road not to far from where I live. Feeling a bit more confident I can handle this. This is on Map 2. I should arrive there tomorrow with around 1/3 of my tank so hopefully I can get even better results. If I managed to have a great reaction time I believe I can pull this.

Doesn’t look to bad you start pulling timing in a few spots but not to bad, AFR is fine. I wish you had of went with an e blend and map3. Good luck today my thoughts will be with you.

Believe me, I really wish I could. Here where I live in Canada, 91 is the best I can get. I'd have to do a 1+ hour trip to have access to 94. My plan was to fill a bit again to have around 5/8 or 3/4 of a tank and then dump another half-can of 80 points VP racing octane booster then finally arrive there at 1/3 of a tank. With what you just said regarding pulling timing a bit though, I think Map 3 is out of question.

Get in his head and tell him if he gets a red light it's a loss
Ahah! You know what? I think I'll do just that!

So thrilled to get to race an M340i today! I'd rather the owner was a different person but still. Today is bound to be a great day no matter what. Will be leaving at 11h00, will arrive there around noon.

Yes I wouldn’t go to 3 with your current fuel. Keep an eye on Shell in your area they have recently released a V Power 93. I’ve yet to see it as I just heard this yesterday but I have been told it’s available in the Valley. That could be a big plus for us performance seekers.

If you take the spare tire and back seat with all the shelfs and floormats, it is around 100lbs.

Imagine getting a puncture on my way home the very same day I decided to remove the flat tire to lose some weights. Yup, this actually happened to me years ago. Not taking the chance again :) As for the back seats, this seems a bit....extreme? No doubt some did this but I rather enjoy having passengers with me hehe

No doubt those are great tips for someone seeking the best performance though!

Good luck, you got this!! Jam some tunes right before and get pumped!

Pulling the interior on your car to dave weight would only give him more excuses if you won. Can't wait to hear the results, are you filming it?

I'm trying to have a friend come with me but so far they are all engaged into something else. Otherwise I'll be asking a random person and hopefully they will say yes.

If all else fail I'll have at the very least my dashcam and the slip.
