I just got a 2018 gt2 with the 3.3tt and it’s awd. I got the car with a blown motor and I’m now in the market for a motor lol. When I was looking I found that the awd motors are a lot harder to find and cost about 2k more. From my understanding the long blocks are the same. So in that case can I just buy a motor that came out of a rwd and put it in my awd without modifications? Thanks in advance!

Awd and rwd engines are little different. Front axle is going through the engine. Probably upper oil pan. You can probably swap that pan, but I am not sure.

I want to sub to this, so I'll make an uninformed comment while I am at it. Folks pull the fuse to disengage AWD. So, the spinning hardware isn't powered at all, just idling mass.

If this has never caused any reported problem, it stands to reason that if you removed all the bits relating to AWD from the suspension and put a RWD engine in you'd simply have RWD with absolutely no issues.
