AWD vs RWD, and expected stock 0-60 times

I have a JB4, intake and those iridium plugs and mine seems no faster. Off the line do people mash the gas? I may be just driving it wrong.

Depends how you launch. Do you use LC? do you have RWD? AWD? Do you have the JB4 actually enabled? do you hit optimal shift points? Do you have a way to track your 0-60? cuz a difference of a 4.0 0 to 60 and a 4.7 0-60 feels like a smaller difference than it actually is.

I am just talking normal driving from a light. Seems like other cars have more pep. I am not gunning it, but I would think it could get out in front of an SUV normal driving from a stop light. I have it map 2. I don’t race it. I would just think I would have to be careful giving gas, but it just moves like a normal car. 2021 AWD only 5100 miles on it.

I mean, if you are driving the car normally then, yeah, it will behave like a normal car. Unless you are in sport mode, it takes a decent amount of pedal input to get the car to start to build boost, and even more to get the JB4 to take effect, as it really doesn't make a difference till you are above 8+lbs of boost, as the car is torquey enough to get out of its own way without the need for excess throttle input. Unless of course you have a 2.0, not the 3.3TT

It is the 3.3 I guess I need to quit sissying around a give a little gas.

There might some glitches in the forum software right now, I noticed I can't start any classifieds/for sale posts. I don't know if that's just a new thing or not, since I rarely go into that section or sell things here. But worth mentioning as both our issues seem randomish.

Yes, give it the gas. If you're in comfort mode you have to get way into the throttle to get it to go. Sport mode it's jumpy right away.

I only drive in Sport or custom. In custom I have everything set to sport except the dampers are in comfort/normal. Throttle response is always tight. If it holds a gear too long I'll hit the paddle to shift it up. After a while I think the ecu learns your driving behavior so it doesn't just hold gears forever. Mine tends to hold it around 2k rpm once I'm done accelerating. I even keep it in custom or sport on the highway using cruis control. This way it still shifts all the way to 8th gear when cruising. Turn off cruise and it drops back to 7th gear.

Sport will not learn your habits of driving, only smart mode will do that unfortunately, and even then its not a particularly fast or good learner. Sport mode will always max at 7th gear no matter the cruising speed, just so its slightly faster to shift down to a lower gear, and also because 2k is right before the turbos are programed to start building boost from the factory.

In case you are curious, here is a data sheet for every model of the stinger except the 2.5's (Including the 2.2 Diesel in Europe).

Interestingly enough, the AWD stingers are rated for 0-100kph in 5.5 seconds, while the RWD's are rated for 5.1 for the 3.3TT's, not the 4.7 that is advertised and very easily achievable from a stock car.

Where do you found the sport settings?

Interesting, didn't know the ECU/TCU didn't learn behavior in every mode. Maybe I'm just getting used to it but I felt like Sport mode has become a bit more tame over time. No scientific evidence of course. It's probably just my internal ECU (brain) adapting. LOL

That goes against Kia and Car & Driver's figures. Mine is definitely faster than 5 seconds to 60MPH. The gap between RWD and AWD isn't that vast, because the AWD launches better which offsets any weight advantage the RWD has.

someone recently observed that at extra legal speeds 'in mexico' that sport will shift to 8th gear. haven't tested this myself.
In order to reach top speed, wouldn't it have to? Otherwise one would probably be bouncing off the rev limiter in 7th at a speed less than the actual top speed.

The Factory limited top speed is 167, which can be reached in somewhere in 6th gear. Based on the gear ratios, the mechanical top speed of the stinger should be around 225ish. I know someone on here has done the math and created a chart for it, cuz I remember seeing it. Lozic told me once, almost a year ago now, that he has a stinger doing 200+ on a dyno. these cars just need a really, really large amount of torque/power to accelerate from 6th onward at a decent pace.

not true. there are plenty of rpms left at the speed limiter threshold. in addition to @StingerbyAdoom 's testimonial, I can offer a poster from germany years ago who claimed in excess of 200 mph, I want to say they claimed 208 mph, driving, not dyno. so 167 mph isn't going to tax 6th gear or even 7th gear because 167 mph is not the 'top speed' of the engineered 3.3l set up.

at some point the engine's power cannot overcome drag though.
