3.3TT AVAILABLE NOW... SSR PERFORMANCE Power Pack 3 Development!

So we got the old ones off and the new ones on. I do t k ow what I’ve done but it rattles like crazy. I parked it for the night and will tackle it tomorrow. I have no idea what’s rattling.
The only odd noise I remember being talked about was @sym with what he called an intermittent grinding noise. I guess it could be a rattle caused by fitment, who knows. Link
Hopefully he can chime in.

It rattles mostly at idle. It’s not always going but it’s loud and definitely sounds metal on metal. I’m going to get back on ramps and check all the tightening t see if that’s it. Also checking that metal shielding thing that I think @sym ran into. It’s also possible my father in law dropped a bolt while attaching them to the primary downpipes and is loosely rattling. If I can’t figure it out I’ll take it to a shop. Just hope it’s safe to drive, it’s about 25 miles away.

Did you swap the metal seals from the old pipes onto the new ones? Tighten everything? Anything touching the pipes like the heat shielding?

A lost nut on top of the undercarriage tray would rattle for sure.

I’m going to go look here in a bit, just woke up

There have been seversl reports of rattling sounds from the dps. Fix seems to be having exhaust with an X pipe.

Not at idle though. If it's rattling at idle something is loose or rubbing.

It could also be something unrelated, like the nut that was lost during install. I dropped one when I was putting mine in and had to fish it out from the top of the undercarriage tray.

Sorta figured it out. There was a single bolt on the brace I hadn’t actually tightened.

HOWEVER... when I turn it rattles. I checked the little shielding and it shows all good, but I noticed on the driver side, the pipe seems VERY close to the transmission. I’m taking 1/8-1/4 inch.

You should be able to adjust it slightly by loosening the upper front nuts and sliding the pipe towards the outside of the car. Mine was tight like that too and I adjusted it.

Thanks, I’m taking it to a shop tomorrow to have them check the fitting. I’ll see if they can do that. My shoulders, back, neck, etc are all sore. The install took WAY to long. It works wonderfully when it’s NOT rattling.
I just can’t get myself to get under it anymore.

I get it. If it takes more than a couple hours under the car then it’s going to take a toll on the body for sure. It won’t take long on a lift to adjust it.

Thats definately it with the engine vibration and heat expansion its going to touch.

Yea I’m going to have it checked out tomorrow, if that doesn’t solve it I’m lost. Y’all have been very helpful.

I had my axhaust near the rear axel tapping on my chasis bracing and it was a good 1/4 inch away. Drove me crazy.

Got it all sorted, took MAYBE 5 mi utes once lifted. The pipe was to close to the transmission as visible from the pictures. They loosened the front side against the primary cats and pushed it towards to the outside of the car. BOOM.. fixed.

I noticed that I can hear a bit of rasp when revving, But only with the door open. I assume that’s the turbos spoiling down after I let off. I’m still listening intently to make sure there is no other rattles.

Shop didn’t charge me, I told them I would gladly pay shop rates for the lift, time, and help. They told me it was no issue just remember them for next time.

I had never owned a performance car, or a car with mods. It’s taking some time to get used to, but it sounds “growl-y” now and zero extra noise while cruising.

HUGE thank you to everyone who gave me input and offered help.

Good to hear and that’s exactly what I did to adjust mine! Now get out there and enjoy them! I really like them.

I'm very surprised at the butt dyno results of the downpipes. Even my girlfriend said "Whoa, it's faster" on her first ride in it.

With JB4 Map2 and nothing else.

I am so glad I bought these instead of a catback

Agreed. These are a third to a quarter the price of a cat back, don’t add drone and offer better performance.

Fed Ex tried to destroy one end of the box they were delivered in. But all survived! Hope to have these installed within the coming month (when next oil change is due).

Nice! But I highly recommend
installing them ASAP. You’re missing out of weeks of added fun! ;)
