Does anyone happen to know the subwoofer size that is under the driver and passenger seats and if they are shallow subs? I just bought a 2022 about a week ago and just picked it up yesterday, but I want to change them out and then add an amp to them. thank you for your help!

IIRC the under seat subs are 6.5inch, there is a couple of good threads here on adding a rear hatch/trunk sub and amp to supplement the bass

Howdy and welcome. They are 8" I believe (haven't measured, I'm just repeating what I've read). And they are shallow; they're mounted in the floor, after all.

Ah, we have 6.5" now. Okay. I suppose I could actually pull the seat all the way back and use a tape measure. (McMaybe McLater.) In my humble opinion, the subs do not need boosting. Just listen to Tennessee Whisky boosted bass
- there's boosted, and there's this one, REALLY boosted. :D You'll hear for yourself how the Harman Kardon pushes this like a ricer mobile.

Nice Tune. Who is the Artist? Is it Chris Stapleton?

I think they're 8" (200 mm) low profile. You should be able to use the wiring at the amp in the trunk and reroute it to an aftermarket sub without much issue. Helps the battery is back there as well. Only issue I can think of is the gauge wire being used, if you install higher output subs and push a lot more power than stock, the speaker wire may need to be upgraded too.

Ok, thank you very much! Does it take up much room in the hatch. Also, the 6.5's under the seats, those would be shallow subwoofers, correct?

How do I find those threads? I put Audios like you suggested in the forum search and nothing showed up. Can you please help me? One more thing, On those 6.5, are they a shallow subwoofer? Does the hatch sub and amp take up a lot of room?

Search Subwoofer for better results - most of the trunk ones sit in the small space between the rear wheel well and the rear bodywork

They are not 6.5" or 8", they are somewhere in the middle 7"-ish.

They are a super shallow design where the motor is inverted to reduce mounting depth. BMW has been using this design for years as well.

I installed some earthquake 6.5" subs in place of the stock ones (on a dedicated amp) thinking the extra power handling and excursion would improve the bass but was seriously disappointed.
The stock subs (on the same dedicated amp) have way more bass and actually handle more power then the earthquakes.

It may be possible to fit 8" BMW subs down there in a custom enclosure(tons of work), but don't waste your time and money on 6.5s.IMG_20210501_093805.webp

What amp did you use with the stock subs?

Toro MR2.

I built a small bracket that picks up some existing studs next to the battery.
It's plenty of power for the stock subs wired at 4ohm, but not enough for my new 10", so I'll be replacing it with a 1000W amp.

Awesome .

For the input of that amp, did you use the subwoofer channel from the existing amp? Or one of the door channels?

Both (LOC with channel summing).

Made a bracket that shared the OEM amp mounting studs.

Thank you for the info! I think that I will leave them alone. It sounds like more work than it's worth.

stock subs respond well to a small dedicated amp
