Hello, I’ve been considering trading in the A6 (2013) for a 2019 GT2. I really love my car now, and have only had 1 mechanical issue since I've owned it. It's currently stage 2 dual pulley, and runs super fast, but there's just something about the Stinger that every time I see one, I just fall in love, and there seems to be a big aftermarket potential which is huge to me. There's a 2019 for sale near me with 11k miles for $38,500, which seems like a good deal. I would like to go take a look at it soon, and was wondering if there is anything I need to immediately check for as far as any recalls, or other problems that may or may not have been addressed. I've put nearly 94k miles on the A6, and will miss it, but look forward to a new community here, which looks like a very active forum.

Thank you!

See my pic. Went from a 2014 S4 to the Stinger. Love it. Also... read up on the lease buyout option. Depending on lease cash offers you can buy a brand new 2020 GT2 for about the same price of the used 2019.

Welcome Steve! Yes, it's a great community here overall. Funny, I had a guy pull up behind me at a gas station yesterday in a newer S4. He approached me and we chatted about the car for a few minutes. He stuck his head inside, poked around and he was really impressed. Said he'd been reading everything he could about the car and was thinking about upgrading from the S4 to a Stinger. I'll say that again...he was thinking about UPGRADING from an AUDI to a KIA... my how the world has changed . In all seriousness, its an amazing car but it does have some quirks that you can read about here but I wouldn't trade it for anything else. I will say the dealership experience, for the most part, will not be on par with what your used to...far from it. That's really my only knock on the Stinger ownership experience. Just have a good, independent mechanic that can do all your basic maintenance and keep all the receipts in case you need to have warranty work done. Other than that... drive it and you'll love it!

Thanks for the replies! I appreciate the advice and love hearing others’ experiences. I do have a good, reputable independent mechanic I take the A6 too that does great work- hope he can work on Kias. They are hard to find.

One more question: how are the ventilated seats? Mine work ok but can hardly tell they’re on most the time.

They work very well, maybe a tad noisy but they feel great.

Wow from a 2013 A6 to a Stinger GT2 is a huge upgrade in every sens of the word I would definitively go with the Stinger Germans after a while become money pits. These cars are very reliable so nothing in particular you need to look, just take it to a dealer for a full pre purchase inspection, engine compartment, leaks, signs of body being re painted or welded, suspension and any interior leather damages, after that you are good to go, pull the trigger you know you will love it.

Korean ventilated seats are know to be excellent after a while putting the ventilated setting to its max I have to turn it 1 notch down because it becomes too cold for my ass literally.

Nice! Exactly what I was looking for!

I had a brand new A6 for a business trip. The stinger is a faster better sports car then an A6.The interior --I will admit--in an A6 is nicer--but when you consider the nearly 20k plus price diffrence--that is about the only thing--is all the luxury and electronics that can lead to more breakdowns. My Stinger interior is/was on par with a honda crosstour--which is fine by me> I actually do not like the smell of the exotic leather that was in the Audi. The Stinger has a better warranty-lower maintenence and better reliability overall. You sit lower in a stinger--handling and brakes are sharper and the AWD in the stinger feels more sport oriented as opposed to a more safety oriented AWD in the A6.BTW the A6--it had a 3d nav map in the center of the dash--good--the bad--right outside of nasheville the 3d map crashed--went off--and when I got back the Audi needed to goto the service dept to get that 3d map back up and running--this was a 65k car with 2k miles and a major electronic part glitched/failed.

Since most of my free time since I got my GT2 a month ago has been devoted to reading posts on this site and toying with it, these are the issues (some have had, many have not) I've noticed that you should be aware of:

1. The sunroof may have some creaking over time, as many from all manufacturers do. There are a number of threads devoted to fixing this and a large consensus is focused on adding washers or padding where Kia likely should have done this themselves. I haven't heard of someone not being assisted by Kia when asked, though results are mixed.
2. Brakes may (pads, possibly rotors, not calipers) have some wobble when braking due to inferior quality pads being installed on American builds. Kia seems to be working with folks on fixes that have issues but for those with issues, the best solution is to buy decent after market pads for at least the front, possibly the back. I'm almost 2k miles in without issues and drive spiritedly maybe 10% of the time.
3. Leather may show wear sooner than you expect. Mine has a few very light crease marks, but nothing crazy. I plan on treating the leather shortly as I believe it sat on the dealer's lot without a proper clean/condition. I have red leather, love it so far, and expect to see minor wear sooner given the lighter color.
4. It's a GDI engine and will thus have carbon buildup in the intake sooner than non GDI engines. These engines are as good as ever and I highly doubt you'd see a lot of buildup before 40/50k miles. That being said, oil catch cans are easy installs and I installed one. This is my only planned, "mod," as the car runs great otherwise in my opinion.
5. Not even sure I should list this as it's a GT car but many dislike the sound or lack thereof. I enjoy taking long rides and the wife despises unnecessary sounds. I think it sounds pretty good when you floor it so I'm all around very happy. There are a plethora of ways to add exhaust and turbo noises to your heart's content.

I've had no issues thus far and it's bar none my favorite car to date. In my adult life I've had a Scion FR-S, Honda HR-V, Buick Regal TourX, and now the Stinger. It's literally like all of my previous cars combined with AWD, insane utility (folding seats/hatchback), luxury, and an engine/drivetrain that's stupid fun to drive. If you're on the fence I'd say do it; I've never seen a car community of this size so into a car, not to mention generally kind and responsive to any questions/issues.

Thanks for all the very detailed, helpful responses everyone. I ended up finding an S6 completely loaded with every feature I had been looking for quite awhile. I still have a lot of what ifs, but the V8 rumble usually quiets that!
Thank you again for all the assistance.

Going from the A4/S4 to the Stinger is an upgrade in certain manners; going from an A5/S5 Sportback to the Stinger is a lateral movement (the Audi wins points for the nicer interior, but the Kia gets even with being RWD).

Same happens with the heated seats, have to turn it down as my ass is getting too toasty
