hi guys. first post here. im doing my research on the stinger gt because im seriously considering buying one in the spring. i drive 60 miles each way to work, so i typically put 20-25k miles on my vehicle each year. its all highway miles so its not too bad on the car but i do depreciate their value quickly. anyways i drive a lexus now and this thing is built solid, i know i can put 250k on this car no problem but i don't typically keep them for quite that long. my question is if the stinger gt is going to stay solid past the 100k mark. i was pretty much sold on this car until one video on youtube worried me when the reviewer said that he's heard reports that the stinger seemed to show age particularly fast with squeaks and rattles appearing after only low miles. i assume he was speaking on the leather and plastic. can anyone chime in on how their car is holding up with high miles and the rate of wear and tear. thanks

Welcome to the forum, you’ll find answers to your questions on quite a few threads here. I’m at 18k miles here in 10 months on my 2019 GT1 and the car is still running great. I did however have multiple interior noises appear after only 2 months of driving it which included the door frames, sunroof, steering wheel, armrest and trunk. I eliminated most of these noises myself (with some pointers from this forum) through the application of weatherstripping grease, felt tape, electrical tape and some rubber padding in the trunk. Maybe I have sensitive ears but with the amount of driving I do daily I wasn’t going to just “turn the radio up” like some unhelpful members have recommended.

Or you could get a completely quiet and rattle free Stinger like many others have on this forum.

My car developed a pretty annoying sunroof rattle under 15k miles. Kia wanted to rip the car apart in an attempt to fix it. I eventually silenced it with a strip of silicone. I was also told by a few apologists to "just turn the radio up." Malarkey!

Other than that, in the 23k miles I had my car the only other issue was the stitching on the seat's bolster unraveling. I noticed that under the 15k mile mark ms well.

Lots of folks have problem free cars. Lots of folks have rattlers. Whether someone's Stinger has issues seems to come down to luck of the draw. Most other cars out there are the same.

Where did you put the silicone? Good to see your still around also.

26k miles on my GT, no sun roof, so no sunroof rattle. Lol. Trunk rattle has come back in the winter, but isn't there when it's warm, will probably need to check the washers I installed to fix it - they were rubber, so they probably have flattened a bit.

Other than that, it's solid. No creaks, and no rattles that aren't the trunk. No seat problems, but I think the GT/GT1 non-special leather seats are sturdier.

I know 26k isn't "High Mile", but there aren't many people out there at 75-100k miles yet.

Sunroof Rattle Fix
I did the same thing Kamauxx did but with a small piece of double sided 3m tape on the passenger side and the sunroof hasn’t made a peep since.

Mine is 28k daily driven by me and my wife, solid like a rock, pure Korean engineering. So you drive a Lexus are you female or a senior citizen? Just curious no other intention in asking that.

This is the second thread you’ve posted that you think Lexus are only driven by older people or females. You should be careful of the stereotypes given that Genesis is historically also an ‘old person’ brand

Granted, before the G70 came along, the G80 and G90 sit in segments that scream "old people car". Not too many younger buyers can put out that type of money on a car new, and those that can aren't often going for full-size somewhat sedate looking sedans.

More on topic, the Stinger is still a new model. There are going to be some growing pains with new models and I think most of the issues such as the rattles can be chalked up to that. Knock on wood, mine is a later 2019 build and I've got 7k on it so far, and nothing has come up so far. I don't think the car has been out long enough for people to really get some serious miles on it yet, aside from tons of less abusive highway miles due to road trips. Mechanically, I'd say go look at the G80/G90 forums. They've been out with our driveline long enough to find any major issues that could come along with miles.

I just passed 35K miles and not a issue really. She is still solid, still a blast to drive everyday and I am still in love. I also drive 100+ miles a day commuting, with about 25% being stop and go traffic and the rest at highway speeds.

Statistics say Lexus are bought by Females and Senior citizens, numbers don't lie, so why so bothered and upset by statistics?

Ya know its funny.. Since I've been young I've always liked the cars that typically old men drive. Like lincolns, buicks, and luxury sedans.
Probably because my first car was a hand me down buick regal and I loved that car. If I buy a stinger it would be a bit different for me, but i've never had a FAST car.. I need to have at least one quick car in my life.

I’m not going to hijack this thread anymore but there are no ‘statistics’ just you saying stereotypes. If people like a car they should get it, only insecure children would care if it’s only driven by ‘old people and Asian ladies’

My 2020 Stinger GT-Line is only 7 months old and with 12400 miles, it has lots of squeaks and rattles.

C. 31,000 miles at 22 months exactly today. My GT1 still feels new. I've never experience any extraneous noises.

It's about 50/50 that you'll get the hatch rattle within your first 10k miles, but it's a rather simple and cheap DIY repair.

That's the only rattle I've gotten so far. Ideally we shouldn't be getting any rattles considering what we paid but hey, that's life. Broadly speaking the car's build quality and material quality is quite good. I don't like that there's rattles, but the few that are common are all easily fixed, at least.

18 months, 33k miles. Everything is still solid. Alignment does go out easy, at least on mine. That’s why I got a lifetime alignment. Rear hatch struts have gotten slightly weaker.
