the powerstop Z26s do have backing plates that wrap around the sides of the backing plates; however, at least one of mine has cracked one of those sides. I didn't bother disassembling the other side once I found that since I suspect similar. I have the clunk, but only once at startup (since I usually back into my parking at the office and at home.) once that first mild clunk passes it's gone for the rest of the drive. stopping power has been great, and no shaking whatsoever. I will probably buy them again next time around.
