Hey gang, has anybody located a aftermarket tow hook for the Stinger?

Did a bunch of searching here and online, and didn't really come up with anything.

Thanks all.

What happened to your OEM tow hook(s)?

OEM tow hook is fine, but looks meh. I want a nice looking one. I don't drive my car all that much, but need them on when at the track. If I had a nice one I'd probably leave it on there all the time. I kind of like the look. Amazon and ebay have a ton. I searched for one that said it fits a stinger, found a couple, and then in the questions it would say it does, then say it doesn't, etc. one even said it fit a bunch of Kia cars, and also a Jetta GLI. Well I tried the one from my GTI and it is nowhere close to being big enough to fit the threading on the Stinger. I feel like the ones calling out that they fit the stinger probably don't.

M24 x 2.5 is the thread size, if that helps

Also for length, if it matters.

When fully threaded in, it is 110mm from the tip of the threaded tow hook to the painted bumper. Pics in the other thread linked.

Measure the length & thread of the OE one as your baseline & work from that then you should be fine.

just searched that M24 x 2.5 threaded tow hook and found a Veloster Forum post saying that's the same size. Also appears that is the same size as the Genesis coupe, 2010 and up. Ordered one. I will add the link if it works. Thanks for the help guys.

This is the tow hook I got. Seems very sturdy, and fits, etc.

One issue I had though was messing around with the alignment bolt, you know to get the hook to be perfectly horizontal, etc.

I about had it lined up and kept working on it to tweak it just a bit back and forth, and I snapped the threaded part of the front off. The part the hook actually screws on to. Really I sheered it off with twist force as I had a long handled wrench through the hook to get some leverage. I wanted it to be too tight to remove by hand. Well after a bunch of that back and forth it failed. Honestly makes me wonder a bit about it actually working for it's intended purpose. The shaft itself seemed good though. I suspect it might work in an easy pull situation, but if you were really stuck probably not.

For those that like the look for cosmetic reasons, I think it's a good buy. for $20 bucks shipped what the hell right. I ordered a replacement and I think I'll be a bit more careful when installing. I also will have my OEM one in the glove box in case I need it on the back bumper or if this one proves inadequate.

Thanks for this! I'm gonna participate in a winter/snow autocross in a couple weeks, and need to have front and rear tow hooks ready.

Would this fit 2023 gt2 ?

As long as it is m24x2.5, then yes!
Thank you I just ordered one and it was wayyy to small and there is a million to choose from on Amazon but could not find one for stinger. I used your link to order another one. I’ll let you know in a few days if it fits :)

Mine fit just fine. Hopefully won't ever have to actually use it, of course!

I don't want it to stick out as much as the original so should I get a shorter one? I.e like a (m18) or (m20)?

M24 is the diameter, 2.5 is the thread pitch.

The length is anything you want it to be, but it is not specified by the M24 x 2.5.

M18 or M20 simply wouldn't fit at all.

Resurrecting:

Everyone: please don't do this...

It still amazes me that the USA does not provide these as dealer fitted genuine options.
The same occured with the GM G8 (Commodore). I bought a genuine towbar and wiring kit from Holden and fitted it myself with complete and detailed instructions but those in the USA used to bleat that they could not do the same.
Kia offers a dealer kit here but I have not sussed out it so I can't confirm if it has detailed instructions. I loath to alter the looks of the Stinger.
