So, just like a lot of us with rattling hatch i tried that washer method without a success. My hatch was still rattling, especially when hitting any road bumps. I tried different method, that seems to be working. Got 2 packages of weatherseal from home depot. Cleaned the area with alcohol and applied that seal around hatch plastic cover. It might be just me, but i think it reduced the road noice from the back as well. 20210327_144315.webp20210327_184722.webp20210327_184745.webp20210327_184800.webp20210327_184836.webp

Do you have the power tailgate and, if you do, does it cause any issues with the tailgate closing itself?

I’m guessing he does not, because in the first picture I believe there’s a plastic “cap” where the power button would be.

No. I have just regular struts. So i dont know if that gonna work with power hatch. For the the first couple of days i had to close it harder, because of some resistance. Now it is all good.

It "seated". In your pics, that strip looks like it belongs there.

I agree. It looks factory installed. I might do this on mine eventhough I don’t have the rattle. It just looks neat.

I like this idea. I've mostly removed the rattle, but wondering for sound and overall outside air intrusion if this would seal things up nicely.

It took me 2 rolls. 1 wasn't long enough.
Well shit, I missed that detail. lol

Free shipping so I ordered another (they don't carry this at my local stores). Hopefully Home Depot's logistics are smarter than mine and they bundle the orders.

I ordered mine at Amazon. Hopefully, this will do it.

For anyone playing along at home... no, Home Depot's logistics aren't smarter than mine.

Install was easy, maybe 10 minutes total including prepping with alcohol. Hatch closed a bit tighter. Will know in the coming days if this resolved the thunk 100%. Looks factory.

This is a great idea that is inexpensive and easy.
And it might also add extra prevention of wind/air and noise intrusion. The rubber seal is being applied were the stock rubber gasket around the trunk meets the hatch lid, creating a more solid connection. This *could* lead to premature failure of the gasket around the trunk over years time, but that's really easy to replace and for the benefit should outweigh that time/replacement cost. I don't foresee having to replace this rubber seal anytime soon unless the adhesive fails.
