Hi guys I just bought a Kia Stinger Indigo Edition and I live in Upstate NY with heavy snowfall. I saw the some discussions for floor mats, but would the OEM floor mats be good enough or would you recommend upgrading to the weathertech ones. Also does anyone have the OEM mud guards? Are they any good they just seem really small in the pictures. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I love the color on my stinger and would like to keep it reasonably clean.

Lift kit and studded tires help too

Btw... the oem rubber mats are quite good. I’ve always had weather tech in all other cars... but feel no need with the oem rubber ones.
I am probably going to get some winter tires before the snow hits as im rocking the all seasons right now. Studded tires are a litte overkill for me, but the lift kit idea sounds pretty interesting. Pics? OEM floormats here I come.

I've bought 3D Maxpider mats for 3 cars now and love them. Great fit, do a great job trapping liquid, and are easy to wash.

Folks seem to really love the TuxMats as well, and those go even higher so might be even nicer for winter. I'm in WI and will find out if I need the TuxMats shortly. :)

I did weathertechs, front and back and a good set of snow tires and you should be in the clear

I've got the OE rubber floor mats too and am very satisfied with them. The OE mud guards do the job: they protect the paint on the trailing wheel well edges and reduce spatters considerably. I like the minimalist approach. It's streamlined.

Forgot to mention that I went with RokBlokz original (as opposed to slimz) aftermarket for my mud guards; wanted a little more coverage than the OEM Kia ones. I'm very happy with the RokBlokz, and folks seem to like the OEMs as well. Pick your poison there.

Have the Rokblokz on my car. They do the job and the OEMs are way to small imo. As for snow tires I have Nokians, and we had a light winter last year but the one big storm we had I plowed through a foot of snow like it was nothing.

I went with the KIA floor liners for front & rear as a dealer accessory. Very similar to Weathertech but with a bit more "texture" to them. They've done 2 winters for me and have performed very well.

Sorry little off topic but feel bad for car enthusiasts who like in places that snow... Here in sunny la Florida I can enjoy the car all year long, no nasty dirty ice stuck under me.

Winters are rough for sure. I also wouldn't want to be somewhere wedged between o so salty water. :)

I have not been hit by any major hurricanes in the years I have been here... But is for sure up north you will be brutal weather 3 or 5 months of a year. But if you have a AWD I guess you can still drive the Stinger, its just i am too anal about my cars, won't be able to tolerate all the dirt, ice and stuff for months.

Yeah, certainly less than ideal but I grew up here and drove plenty of FWD only beaters. You learn pretty quick how to drive in the winery hell. Salt on the roads is shite for cars, just like it is in coastal areas.

That's reminded me of another thing to add to the list.... car wash passes!
Gotta get the salt off

If the roads are white we just don't drive, no reason to. Here the snow does not last any length of time, usually.

Welcome!
I'm in "upstate NY." I went w/OE flaps. Haven't gotten any winter mats yet.
That said, I plan to use my 06 spec b as DD in the winter...

Ain't that the truth. I used to live in GA, and I never knew how good we had it until i moved up north. Literally 2 seasons up here its either winter or construction season. Roads looks. Like the surface of the moon.

Be careful when you go to Mexico, there have been random tourist kidnapping incidents, I suggest you to go to East Asia or Western Europe instead.

Bad stuff happens everywhere , even in Canada !! I've read all the horror stories associated with Acapulco and Mexico and after 12 trips I've never experienced anything close to being sketchy , but I appreciate your concern mate !
