Well, I traded in my 18' Dodge Charger 392 and bought my brand new snow white 18' Stinger GT2. I got the GT2 for $38,400 but after the trade allowance of $38,000 on my Charger and the equity I had in the trade, I financed $18,000. Funny thing...sticker on the Charger 392 was $44,400, I paid $38,500 for it, so I only lost $500 over 4 months and 1000 miles of ownership.
Between the reoccurring AC issue of my new Stinger, the audio going to the back speakers everytime I hang up a bluetooth call and having to into settings to readjust, the squeaks when entering a steep driveway from a flat roadway, rattles from doors and hatch area as going down rougher paved roads and imperfections. Auto start stop in traffic (having to remember to hit the button everytime you get in the car otherwise the jolt can startle you as it starts roughly everytime you come to a stop), tight interior for a sedan, poor quality leather (color fastness and thickness), poor quality paint, and the 2 step pedal for wide open throttle, junk building up in door sills and brake vents that cant truly be functional or at least effective ( look at how it directed outside of wheel not drafted behind wheel lip), brembos are not as good as other 4 pot brembos I've had on vehicles owned, UVO stinks compared to say uConnect, lack of info like oil pressure, air intake temp and exhaust temp which is found on less expensive cars that are non turbo, location of infotainment screen (reach and line of sight, bezel is too big). Worried about the turbos, and the direct injection with carbon build up and low speed pre-ignition (yes it has a long warranty, but wouldn't it be better not to have to use it.)
Very, very beautiful car on the outside and inside, love the headlamps and interior led ambient lights (have not had that since my 14' Mustang GT Premium and missed it), car is punchy and has a bullet proof motor, wish the 8 speed was as good as the ZF transmission, also shift logic is good but not great, paddle shifters should be made out of better material instead of plastic, center console armrest feels chintzy the way it closes, most of the drive modes feel similar except sport, piping of fake exhaust note through speakers (Ford did it years ago and got hate and laughs for it), while the fit and finish of the interior are very good, the plastic bits like the window switches shouldn't be in a $50k car. Absolutely love the HK sound system is great as was the Lexicon in my Genesis. Buttons are very well laid out as well but would like to see digital temps near controls instead of infotainment screen, no heated rear seats or steering wheel in GT2 RWD but standard in less expensive autos, steering wheel is thin but flat bottom is nice.
What each person can live with differs from individual to individual, but after only a month of ownership I am trading it in on a 19' Ram Larimie Longhorn. Funny it's a truck and I find it's more luxurious than the stinger inside. Wouldn't say this for prior years. In a Cadillac XTS right now for a rental to keep miles off my vehicles and love it too, feels very solid and quality inside compared to the Stinger.
The forum members and the support for the Stinger has actually been the best thing about the ownership. I will be looking into a
G90 soon into the future as I have nothing against the Hyundai/Kia brand, even the dealership I bought from was awesome, so was Hyundai when I got my 1st
Genesis sedan. Might even look at the
G70 as my needs for a larger interior shrink.
Again these are just my views as an enthusiast that has owned too many cars to count over the last 20+ years. I feel savagegeese's review is most likely the most accurate of this car. I am too critical and I know this.
So, I got $36k for the GT2 on trade not bad for what I paid for it, but not great if compared to MSRP sticker. Credit score went up in the last month, but so did interest rates by a half point. Gonna miss the $240mn payment.
Hope even after being critical of a beautiful car, and not owning it anymore I am still welcome here, I guess we will see.
