A/C not very cold!

I bought my car last November and havent had any need to use the AC up until this week where it has been getting rather warm here. I come to find out that the AC barely blows cold air, in fact, its not very cold at all! Is this a thing? Or do I need to make a trip to the dreaded dealership?

Do not run the system if it is not blowing cold air. It could be a bad relay, or compressor clutch, but in the event that all of the refrigerant has leaked out, you could possibly damage your system. In most cases, the refrigerant shares the lines with a lubricant for the AC system. If one leaked out, it is likely the other did as well.

I noticed the same thing a few days ago on our first warm day of the year. I recall it blowing cold last summer, though, so I'll wait until we get a truly hot day to check it again. When I was running the A/C recently, the outside temp was only marginally warmer than my set temperature, so maybe there was no reason for it to blow really cold.

Did you knock the temperature all the way down to the coldest setting? If yes, something might be wrong. If no, it might not push the coldest air possible because it's running a blended temperature?

This automated AC is "smart". It does it's job without any input/intervention. All you have to do is have it on "Auto" and set the temperature you want (make sure the rear vents are either closed , or the center dial is compatible with what you are doing in front; don't have it set to heat if you are trying to cool the interior down). If you're comfortable, and you've got your interior temperature set to a humanly normal level, don't expect cold air to come blasting out.

I have the temp set to "Low" or as low as itll go, I have the air recirc on and the back vents closed. I also, had the cooled seats on, It was about 22c here the other day and the air blowing out of the vents was basically regular air, not cold at all. I also turned off the auto temp and the ads and auto venting systems. Not impressed, the car has barely 10,000km on it. Unless Im missing something?

It should work under those circumstances, setting it to low usually bypasses "auto" setting and will blast cold air non-stop. You didn't specifically say the AC button was illuminated, check that too, although putting it on "Low" should do that by default.

If still warm air, bring it into the dealership....

Yes, the AC is obviously illuminated lol. Hence turning ON the AC and not getting cold air =(

I don't think your system is kaput. I think that you are fighting with it.

Auto OFF? Why? Not impressed? Perhaps the system is "smarter" than you are. So far, when I've stopped trying to interface with the systems of this car, and just let it do its job, it works best. It is a complex machine, so not perfect. There have been a few times when the interior wasn't to my liking temperature setting-wise: and I dialed it up or down accordingly, to a higher or lower temperature than what my experience says I want. And the system has adjusted with the new setting that I command. I learn as I go, to work with the system's inescapable foibles. It isn't broken.

While you may have a point, Id like to have the AC on whenever I want it to come on. I typically put it on to cool down the cabin for a few minutes then drive with just my windows down. However that day I drove my entire 25 min commute with the AC "on" and the cold air never came. So, I dunno. My benz's AC got so cold you could barely feel you fingers after 10 min.

Germans have these things all sewn up! I won't compare because I can't. But this car is an entirely different environment from anything I've ever experienced. I just leave it on "Auto" and get ready to play with the sunroof (I don't drive with windows down, ever, not even a little bit) and temperature knob. I'll turn the whole thing OFF whenever I feel great already without it.

Funny, I heard "germans have weak-ass Bosch AC, even when going full tilt is barely noticeable, Mustang AC is directly connected to Arctic Ocean".

My '05 Subaru has an auto mode, but it was quickly determined that the venturi used to detect temperature was too small and badly located, so it's been on manual mode for 95%+ of its life..

Maybe because 22c isn't that warm and it's not a huge gap between LO and 22c. But set correctly it should blow full cold regardless of outside temp. I never use "auto" mode, just set it where I like it.

How about this. Do you leave your Stinger in Eco drive mode? Part of how Eco mode does it’s job is by messing with the A/C. If so, switch to a different drive mode and see if it solved the problem.

I actually thought about that, and tried in 3 different drive modes, with the same result =(
