Is anyone here running 245 tires on the stock 8" wheels or wheels that have a similar offset? Are there any issues with clearance or rubbing? I am thinking (somewhat for cost purposes) of creating a square setup with all season tires once my Pilot 4 are worn. I am going to go 245/40/19 all around. They are within 3% of stock diameter. May not be the ideal setup for handling, but I want to make sure there won't be any issues if I go this route.

Thanks in advance.

The tires themselves will fit the wheels just fine. As for clearance it'll depend on the tire you go with as different tire companies with the same given advertised size will give you tires of physcally different widths and sidewall shapes. Lastly, offset. I havent had my stock wheels on in a while but I'd like to say they had room. Also, I'm running 245s in front on a 9" wheel and people are stuffing 255s under there so I want to say you'd be fine. Can you measure? If you can find at least 10mm clearance between the stock tires and everything else, I'd say you're good.

In short, you're more than likely fine but it wouldnt hurt to check.

What wheel width does the manufacturer of the specific tire you are thinking of say it can be safely fitted to?

Really not sure what you're hoping to gain here. Not sure where you're buying your tires but there is negligible difference in cost between the sizes - unless $50 is an issue for you on a $1000 tire purchase. The only reason to have a "square" setup is to be able to rotate front-rear, which you can't do with the offset wheels.

As I have mentioned in another thread already,
I am running OEM 8.5" rims "square" with 255/40r/19 MIchelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+.
To make the rims fit in the front I installed 15mm hubcentric spacers and to complete the look, there are 5mm spacers in the back.
This allow me a full wheel rotation without drama. With the tires a bit beefier, the ride is now more GT like and I gained a bit more protection for the rims.
I keep my four 8" rims for the snowy seasons, with appropriate tires obviously. I am thinking 225/45r/19.

Main reason is I am looking for a set of all season tires with good treadwear. The Pirellis I found have a 110000 km treadlife and are 2/3 (about $500) less than the MIchelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ (70000 km treadlife) if I were to get them in a staggered size. I know they can't be rotated. The Pirellis don't come in the sizes needed for the staggered fit.

I have 245/40/19 continental DWS on my stock rims for my winter set up. Works great. Very happy with the set up. Eibach springs and 5mm spacer up front and 20mm spacer in the rear. Spacers are not needed however.

Awesome! Thanks for the reply and info.

It is definitely "possible" to rotate tires with a square setup (245/40/19 or 245/35/19)...that's an advantage of going that route! Since our wheels are larger in the back, you simply need to get them de-rimmed from the back to the front & vice-versa. Pretty simple and cost effective. Also, it should make the car more balanced in tight turns.

Did you end up going 245/40/19 square on stock rims? I'm looking to square my set up on stock staggered wheels.
235/40/19, I know for a fact will not cause any issues. I suspect the same for 245/40/19, but cannot say by experience.

There's way more options and inventory for 245/40/19 tires too.
