Well, I've put just over 2k miles on my stinger and have noticed a tick on cold start that's getting louder and louder. Sounds to me be coming from the area around the middle cylinder on the drivers side, which is also home to the HPFP it seems. It's definelty valve train related and starts to get quieter as things get warm which makes me think somethings setup too loose lash wise. Is this normal for the 3.3 or does something actually have too much lash?

You sure it's a valve and not the fuel injection? GDI engines in general are rather loud.

No, I'm not, this is my first GDI powered car, all my others have been LS powered. My only reason for concern is its audible even with the hood closed and at times when coasting it sounds like the chains on a motorcycle. I don't haven't heard any other stingers run so I'm trying to gauge if it's normal or not.

I would have that checked.

Second getting a second opinion by the dealer/local mechanic. If it's loud enough to hear inside the car with the windows up it's unusual.

From interior to exterior to high performance - everything you need for your Stinger awaits you...
It's hpfp. Relax

HPFP puts out a hell of a racket on cold start.
After it quiets down, you can definitely hear the injectors.
All normal.
