2020 Stinger Rumors

Can anyone translate page 7? Google translate says this about the AWD:

Electronic four-wheel drive system
AWD stability as well as switching to sports mode among the five driving mode systems
2WD and close to enable an agile driving, two opposing
You can feel charm. (Only ESC FULL OFF condition)

I'm trying to figure out if they're talking about D-AWD, or the separate options AWD / RWD. It ALMOST sounds like they're talking about D-AWD, since that whole blurb is under the large "AWD" logo. Especially the "ESC FULL OFF" part - is "feel charm" Korean for drifting?

If so, I'm REALLY stoked - I really want the rear LSD + holding shifts..

Just because it’s in the Korean brochure doesn’t mean it’s coming to the US. I’d doubt they create the GTS then offer its main selling point to all Stingers the same year.

It might be selfish of me, but I'm kind of happy to hear not much is changing for 2020. Gives my 2018 more shelf life. I also hope any exterior refresh they do is subtle, the car is beautiful and if they want to make it a classic design they shouldn't do anything too drastic with the exterior styling.

For some, the main selling point is the orange color + alcantara interior. Plus, it's available in RWD, where there are no drivetrain changes. As I read the initial D-AWD article, it is planned for all the models at some point.

As for "adding main selling point to all the models" - see 2018 STI Type RA vs 2019 STI - the upgraded RA engine / brakes are standard in the 2019 STI base.

Not saying you're wrong - just hoping you are :-)

You're mostly wrong.

It was a quick response. I am partly wrong:

two-layer glass windshield (for quietness): check, standard on all GT trims (I don't know about Stinger Base and Premium)

19" all season michelin tyres: check, standard GT equipment, from what I have read, no more Bridgestone tires: all the GT trims around here last winter had A/S tires.

air purifying feature: okay, not sure about that one.

auto tightening bolster when entering sport mode: maybe not auto tightening, but GT2 bolsters are adjustable already.

red interior now available: there are red interiors on some Base and Premium trims, or were (I don't know if they increased or decreased for MY19).

dynamic bending light feature (it was not available in korea)

drive wise package now standard: was on GT2, now is on Premium and up.

In the US market, there is no All Season 19" tire option, just summer only. I would go for a 19" squared AS option with Pirelli P Zero AS+ or Michelin PS AS3+. On anything lower than the GT trim, you don't get the Red interior in the US but I think at launch it was available in Korea. I know the display car they had in dealers (at least at mine) before the car was on sale here, was a Deep Chroma Blue/Red 2.0T with all the options you got on the GT2 trim. It looks like they are just filling out the line by offering additional options. I would like the auto air recycling feature with a charcoal cabin filter to keep strong smell out.

Now on the mid-cycle refresh, I want to see an electronic IP with the review display camera on the mirrors, larger Infotainment display with an updated GUI and display fonts, laminated glass all around, passenger seat with similar adjustments to the drivers seat, option for a sportier tuned version and a sport hybrid version, pairing the 2.5T with a plug-in hybrid system with power similar to the current 3.3T power range. Oh, yeah for you power hungry folks, that 3.5T with over 450 hp and all the sportiness to keep y'all happy.

You're actually still wrong. Now less than before but wrong nonetheless. You'll get there eventually.

Guys relax :)

No one is going to win the Web Award For Being Right on this thread, but the discussion otherwise is interesting!

That's quite a wish list. I doubt Kia will get on board with any of that. (Maybe the passenger seat adjustment thing)

Oh, well that's good. I was only worried about being "mostly" wrong. :D

This is interesting. Because I'm pretty sure that 19" A/S were sold this winter. Staggered I don't know. But it doesn't seem realistic to sell summer tires exclusively on only the 167 MPH limited trims. Buyers who want that higher top end and want A/S tires are left out? I don't think so.

I know I saw red interior on Base and Premium last year. It was rare, so may have been one of those anomalies (like the hood in the US without fake vents; which we subsequently learned are an option in SK; how "it" got over here was never learned).

Not going to happen, imho, any of it by 2020. And later, if the EV fans have their way, ICGE will be well and truly on the way out: eliminating any upgrades to more powerful engines, period. 12 position seat adjustment is plenty for the passenger. I don't see any advantage in giving the 16 seat adjustment to the passenger. I suppose that 12 position seat adjustment could be put in both front seats in lower trims than GT2, as optional.

I'd be happy if they can at least add BSM cameras. I might be one of the few that's still have a small convex mirror glued to the side mirrors even with BSM indicators.

I'd like to see all the color options in the US
